Fastest track dog with the meat

Name some of the fastest track dogs that can really move track and get hooked with the meat and stay hooked . Time and time again no one time wonders. Just what are some ideas of dog crosses we need to look in to stuff we need too better the breed not puff someone's ego lol. Regardless of who owns them put your feelings aside who's got what I need to have the best shot at a world beater.

Hammer

Todd that don't matter to me if someone's got a nice dog he should post. If you don't like him shouldn't have him on your lead and I've heard he's fast and can throw a good pup also. Just like mitches dogs nice hounds also what's it going to take to make some crosses that are thought out and not on a whim sounds good. Those sound good breedings don't work for me and don't tree many coon.

Yes

That's a very nice looking pup too. Glad for you . You hunt hard like I do as many nights as I can but if I'm hunting this hard with the right dog I want to turn heads in every breed what do I need to get there . If I'm at it five nights a week looking at coon every night I want something that is setting on wood hooked waiting on the other dogs to get there most every time lol

Step up

There's a lot of stud dogs on here some one step up lets here it as straight as you can tell it gyps and all. Who has it and if you post about your own dog and you should. Then mention someone else's dog also you think is a coondog like I'm talking about

Think you right

Todd we are going right way. And dogs will be dogs once in a while. Thanks for info on some dogs out there seems this is a little touchy to talk about . Think the honesty is what we need. Its not people telling lies its just about what were breeding if it should be breed to a certain gyp or not. There are dogs winning Ike - blackhawk- to name a few . But if they compliment each other I want to try one. Just think there are enough black dogs out there real good ones to get it done. How many people get to hunt dogs from the north or Midwest being in the south I don't but their there and coondogs . I've got a Ryder and dueling Dan male pup 10 months acting right we will see he can move a track good just hope he keeps clicking.

Fastest I've seen came from cold nosed dogs that clicked with brains ...

Hunted and bred from a dog that was Smithurst on top Albert/Ace on bottom .. classy looking dog , float a track and leave a pack in the dust ... nice locate and classy treedog .

Bred him to a gyp that had Albert up close ... got another like him , good nose and super talented track dog.

Bred that son to a gyp that was Ace/Albert/Smithurst .. got Jericho . Jericho is fast and will do whatever it takes to not let a dog get ahead of him ... not quite the nose but makes some racket on the tree.

I think for nose and track speed , Albert deserves a serious looking into ...

I don't doubt he's nice .. reminds me of Jericho , when he's clicking he can smoke about anything .. but I can't stomach a dog that will overlook the smell of coon and be fickle ... I think when it comes to what the breed needs .. consistancy and dogs that don't get shook up when hauled and don't have fickle in them are at the top of the list.

99% of us will say ... if our dogs would just hunt like they do at home , we know we'd win ... that grit and good work ethic is as important as anything.

Achilla aint the fastest , but she's got heart and deep in her bones she can't ignore coon scent and loves coonhunting with all her soul ... I've had faster , but wouldn't trade em' for her.

Tn's Ragin Rudy he is co owned by Aaron France and a fella named Carl I can't think of Carl's last name but this dude has got speed

Dirtdevil

That's a very honest statement and you know what you would like in a hound. Feel the same way if we can just find it to be honest with our self weather our own dog lacks something. We all ways want our dog to be the best. Around home I'm hard to beat but I want one that travels well same hunt same everything as being home lol and don't want to just follow someone else and there breed ideas but would like some input from you and others even Todd and hammer lmbo hey afew slick tails don't make him a puss em dog take a deep breath lol nice hound

I talk about grit after having pitbulls and jagdterriers .. hanging off a hide aint grit .

Grit is what a dog shows when it's losing and knows he can't win , but still keeps working ...

Hounds don't really have grit in the true sense , but they can have determination ... in the form of not letting anything deter them from findind and treeing ... a dog that let's being car sick , homesick , nervous around crowds or strange dogs keep em' from shining ... is the very definition of one that lacks grit .

I've seen Achilla swim across a pond with a thin layer of ice on top barking after a coon and hit the other side opening and not even shake the water off ... she gets that focused .

You can make her get down off a tree and sit , and really get on her butt ... and she will still it there and tree with a smile on her face ... she loves it so much she don't care what rules the game has , she still wants to play.

But , she aint a track drifter ... just a coondog.

Posted by dawgg03 on 03-22-2013 04:06 PM:

Coondog

Man she sounds like a fun dog to hunt. Agree about grit . That's part of the makeup of a coon dog and makes up for a lack of some other abilitys . Things people don't see they lack because of grit making up for it. But if I can get that very rounded dog with that grit I got a winner period well said Justin.

Not when the dog weighs three times as much .. do you brag about whipping guys a third your size ?

You don't hear of dogs pulling 200 bear out of holes by themselves .. that would be grit !

I call it grit when a dog is hauled ten hours and his love for coon and grit makes him hunt like he was at home ... throw up your lunch and then go tree a coon , lol ... that's what the every breed needs.

A slow dog under a coon is alot more impressive than a fast dog pouting at the truck ...

Posted by dawgg03 on 03-22-2013 05:59 PM:

Grit

Got to admit that's what I want call it what you want but I know where your coming from Justin . Todd look at it this way even when you don't feel like hunting some nights may feel bad but you can't stand it got to go. That's what my dog needs to be thinking also lol.

Mike you talking bout hot tracks cold tracks are both? Just dogs with track speed period??

Mandy 2 was real sporty the night I hunted with her.
Bung done a real nice job when I hunted with him.
Cricket is a real sporty female.
T is a get struck get treed quick type of hound.

3 of these dogs I've never seen run a bad track, but the tracks they run they were pretty swift. The other one I raised an sold, she has got a pretty good nose an can drift petty quick!!

Wormy

Just a track in general . Just able to drift a track no straddle track and babble move it lol end up with the meat and stay hooked.
