Garmin tracking units

Which would be better the 320 or the 220? I'd look into the new garmin alpha but it's a little to expensive for me

The 320 is faster than the 220

Satellite hookup in almost intantaneous with the 320 and it may take up to a minute for the 220 to find the satellites. Plus if you ever see the BirdsEye option that you can put on the 320, you wouldn't even look at a 220.

That being said, 320's go through batteries faster. So the choice is really yours. If you don't mind purchasing a few more batteries then the 320 is the better unit. But the 220 and the 320 are basically the same when it comes to actual dog tracking, without the use of BirdsEye View. And 220's dont use up the battery life quite as quick.

I have the 320 I just bought a pack of four lithium batteries, I've yet to use a fresh set of batteries up on one hunt. Just carry the extra pair in case.

I use rechargeable batteries on my 320 . I've found all rechargeable aren't the same . Some have very little shelf life and are always dead or almost so every time you need them . If you're charging every nite they work but some of the better ones whole their charge so they're ready when you are . Regular alkaline seem to last as long as most but I don't care to buy them all the time .

Ok, are they both Preatty easy to use?

Redticker, I here what your6 saying, but in comparison, I use the 220 receiver and my two lithium batteries will usually last for a month of hunting or more. Now I never use the back light, as I use my headlight when I want to look at the map or the compass. But I usually hunt 4 to 6 hours per night, two to three nights per week. So if you are getting less than two nights out of a set of battries, then their seems to be a significant difference in battery usage.

This is probably not a big deal for some hunters but It might be for a few.

Either unit is a good choice though!!!
