5 is the most I have seen in one tree but I seen something very neat late one night as I was headed home from huntn. As I passed through a small rural town, there were 20+ coons feeding on bugs under a street light. Only time I have seen that many grouped up at one time other than a pen and it just so happened to be in town.

Sweet Rob!!! That would've been neat to see!!!

Coment on earlier post about a pleasure hunter that shot 17 coons out of one tree. He has the nevre to call himself a coonhunter, he's a slob hunter..Back in the late 60's I was hunting a golf course and treed 21 coons in one tree..Four different litters, I didn't take one..

Don't be so fast to pass judgment. Have you ever walked a corn field in the late summer/early fall to see the damage from even a few coons? If I don't kill some coons I will lose some of my best hunting spots to trappers. Does this make me a slob? So if someone is having problems with coon in fields or around buildings I try to help them out. By no means do I kill every coon that I tree during season in most of my spots but in some I do if that's what it takes to keep hunting there. Now that I'm thinking about it maybe I need better dogs because I haven't killed them all yet. Just venting a little, think it's funny how fast some can judge with only hearing a little part of a story.

Keven I've walked in more corn fields in the last 50 yrs that I can remember..Treed countless off the fields, did take some, left others to run again . Have helped farmers with there coon problem, show them a few kills and they're happy..I don't care how you phrase the 17 kills, he is a slob hunter. No excuses!

i hunt a lot of corn fields and do kill some coon i also relocate several more then i kill most farmers just want them gone dead or alive when your carring three to six out alive makes them pretty happy to

Any coonhunter who claims they are one wouldn't shoot but one out of a tree.

There's a guy who lives down the road from me in coon season if there's 5 coons go up one tree all 5 are coming out, and if you tell him you shot one out of season he gets mad at you. Which one do you all think is worse?

One time my uncle and I treed on a tree in a guys back yard. It was beside an old barn. I can't remeber the exact number but it was in the high 20's between the tree and the barn. The tree was a mallberry and there was also a natural sping there it was coon heaven. There was coons of every shape and size. I never seen anything like it in my life

coons

Treed one night here in VA had 5 in one tree. It would be something to see with those 10+ plus trees.

Posted by Jerry West on 03-19-2013 02:09 AM:

In the late 80's, I lived in Great Bend, KS. Tured loose at a stock tank right next to where they had been creep-feeding calves. Dogs went nuts, finally treed. Three trees close together had 16 coons that we counted. At least 5 or 6 more ran down the dry branch behind the tank.
The land owner wanted them all killed. So, to make him happy, we killed 3 that night. He was not with us. Over the next couple of weeks, he moved a new batch of feeder calves back in, so we livetrapped 31, to get them out from his feeder. The landowner would not let us hunt in there when the feeder calves were in there.

I did not notice an increase in the coon population where we moved them to. Now to ask a question, Do you think any of the coons stayed in the area where we turned them loose?
