For me it was Nicely's Black Face Red. He was the toughest dog of any breed I have ever drawn in a night hunt.

I liked Carl Carroll's Buffalo Creek Patch female. She was the reason I purchased my first English dog. She won two world hunts, ACHA and UCHA, in the same year.

Action packed all the way!

Travis, sounds like he was clicking real well. I love to get on casts like that,no matter who ends up winning. It's a blast seeing dogs tree that many coons!

I agree, I had my old Bomber dog and withdrew when Jar got a little over 200 ahead of me and I was the closest dog to him! The other 2 dogs were Fayard's Lemon and Wolf Creek Diesel, not a bad cast of English males for sure. Jar was unbeatable that night and put on a coon treeing siminar!!!

snake

I drew Briar Creek Snake at the Thursday Night English hunt.

Some people might remember this night... it was the night Dennis Stienhauser's JO JO female got lost in a drain tile. It rained so hard for so long all three of the other hounds came back in. The wind blew so hard the pickups rocked back and forth and dog boxes blew around in the back if they weren't chained down. We got something like 4 inches of rain in 20-30 minutes. It was a monsoon....

When it blew over we all got out of the cabs of the pickups and started looking for the hounds. Three hounds (my grand night included) came out from under the pickups or out of dog boxes.

When Jim Ridge Stepped out of the cab you could hear him YELL.... "TREE SNAKE". We went to the tree and he had been treeing through the entire storm. The bottom of the tree was a muddy mess where he had been. He had the coon.

I shook Jim's hand and said, I know a coonhound when I see one. Congrats!

Mid 60s she had all the tools mouth good track dog excellent tree dog I don't remember who owned her Bill Clark was hunting her. that was the only time I ever hunted with her but for the one night she was a nice one. I have hunted with a slew of good ones but nothing ever came close to Impressing me as Gypsy did that night.

Funny u mention this.....I have a friend that has always been a HARDCORE 100% walker man and has hunted with jar quite a bit i guess and he said ol jar was best hound ever slipped his head thru a collar. That says sumthin coming from a walker man !

Posted by willard on 02-12-2015 03:37 PM:

I hunted with Cody jar alot and hunted him in some hunts and yes he was impressive in every way treeing coons (second to none) that's why I still have some of his blood running through Willard's veins .

Drew him last year at Edays (Friday). He put on a clinic, think he had 1250 with no minus. He would strike and tree before most the other dogs realized they were even cast! One tough hound.

I drew (actually judged as a non hunting judged in those days) Cabin Creek Rowdy once in Girard Kansas when he was young........not long after judging his mother Pukin at the same club. Rowdy impressed me a lot but it was his mamma's tree style that stuck in my head the most and I always think of first when I think of the ones I have drawn.

the absolute best English I ever drew though was a dog named Patch Eye off of Dewayne Edmondsons Meg female and Cox's Cooner. he had several owners over his years because he had a thing for skunks...............but that dog could tree more coon while he was also killing every skunk in the woods than the rest of the cast could consentrating on coon alone
