How would you score it ???

Dog A,B,C, & D are struck in that order. Dogs A & B are declared treed. After arriving to tree dog C arrives, starts treeing and is handled. Tree is determined to be slick by all handlers and judge. What happens to dog C does he get minused strike only. Strike and tree minused. Strike circled . Or dog C shouldnt back slick tree. Added last answer for a little humor.

None of the above... his strike points are circled.

Your right

The only way dog C gets minused is if Coon is seen and plus points are awarded. The third answer should have said circle instead of delete.

Posted by tim griffin on 03-07-2013 12:48 AM:

You have to delete it. He should be handled and with draw cause he is a covering idiot

hey paul,

isn't it a rule on here that if you post a poll you have to have the correct answer listed?

Sorry guys I made a mistake. I thought that I could go back and change it but only a moderater can do that . So the next time I post a pole I'll read it more carefully before posting

not poking at you, just at ukc's fd up rules. lord knows we all have gotten them mixed up on more than one occasion

look at all the confusion on here non stop.

the rules on most games are clearly stated.

how many would play monopoly if you had to buy a second rule book just to understand how to play?

True but you also have to look at it this way. The coonhunting world has the most backwoods lawyers of any sport. People want pick at every rule until it bleeds or they confuse others so much they start to think the same way. UKC rules are siimple if you just read them for what they are and not between the lines or in most instances try to make them fit a situation where your dog is never at fault. Coonhunters in general like to compete and win.

you have the right answer up there. You can not circle it cause that could beat you in a tie breaker

Tim......you need to recheck the rules. Paul posted the rule earlier in the thread. It is circle strike points.

i have never liked this rule. i'v always thought that a dog that comes in to a tree after judge arrives on a slick or possum should be minused or scratched under ntch rules. i dont care how you look at it. that dog wound up in the same place as dogs being minused or scratched. it diserves same as dogs that tree'd slick or possum. to give that dog a pass for quiting a track & covering or being late to that tree is just wrong.

how can we minus dog on a coon for being late & not minus on slick or possum for being late ????? i never understood why this rule is like this.

Come on guys ,read from the top, if the dog comes in after the cast arrives and no coon is seen the points are circled. RULE 5b

In the example listed in the 1st post the tree was obviously closed since cast members were at the tree when dog C came into it.

I had almost the exact situation occur on a recent cast I judged and cast members had different opinions on whether the strike points were circled or deleted for a dog that came into the tree after it was closed. Two dogs treed declared treed were minused for a slick tree.

Can someone explain the difference between these two rules concerning circle and deleted points.

Circle 5 (b) No dog to receive minus points for coming into
tree after Judge arrives unless a coon is seen and
the dogs treeing are awarded plus points.

Delete 5 (g) When dog that is shut out comes into tree shut out on.

MikeR,
Maybe this will help eliminate any confusion: The term "shut out" in Rule 5(g) refers to the dogs' strike points.

So why does the dog get rewarded for coming into it .by getting circle that could beat someone in a hunt and that's undeserved points he had done worse than the dogs treeing the slick he quit a track and treed slick

Why all this talk about "Shutout" and rule 5(g)? Read the situation. No dog was shutout on this tree. All four dogs were struck BEFORE any dog was called treed. 5(g) never applies to his question.
