need help
i have a walker male coming on 2 yrs old soon. he is bred very good and was split treeing with the meat at 7 months old. he is very loud and a hard tree dog. he runs and trees his own coon regularly but ive only knocked out a handful of coons to him. here lately he has been ill on the tree and tries to bite me. when he does this i whip him for it but it doesnt seem to help. i know it is partly my fault because when he was younger i pet him up too much on the tree. another thing is he doesn't listen well. he will not come when you call him and he can be right beside me in the woods and when i holler for him he takes off in the opposite direction. another thing is if i dont get to the tree in time he will leave it and start another track. i dont know if it is too late to break these habits and any help is appreciated.
cut your loss's and start over
Have you leashed him up?? Sounds like he will be a good one although I would be letten it out that he is mean most of the good dogs are mean in their own way but bitten the.hand that feeds you will usely barry you also...

I don't really use shock collars my dogs usely come when called..but buy you a e collar and when you call him and he doesn't come don't let off the button until you see a spark come off the end of his tail..if I was there I would be able to explain it better then over the forum but turn you a caged coon aloose and when he trees it if he goes to leave..leave not just circle the tree but sure enough leave just tap him with the e collar and tell him get you no good srry ass on the tree then when he does good talk to him nicely dogs soon he will stick to stayen treed long enough for you to get there..

well, you're not gonna like this, but here goes.
best thing to do is keep your hands off him, stop whipping him, you're breaking his spirit and ruining him.
you have to regain his ''trust at home'', day by day. start with basic commands and reward with treats and work from there back to woods. don't pet,or over do treats either, and 1 thing at a time.
again; stop whipping him, its whats causing ''all'' your problems.
would you stay at tree, come to anyone, might bite, if you thought you were gonna get a whipping everytime?
if its to late, sell him to someone far away, he might make them a nice hound, long as they don't start out, whipping him.
some dogs are pretty smart, inspite of handlers errors.
You didn't lay the ground work when he was young thats got to be done at a young age they got to know who's boss your dog thanks he is if one of my dogs were every to bite me it would be his last bite cut your losses and start over

sell
The answer to selling him to someone far away. Sounds like an easy fix, but it should be fixed before that happens. Ya wonder why all these **** eaters get passed around.
you can never trust a dog that tries to bite you at the tree.
