dont think there is a minimum age, but personally, the child needs to be able to handle the dog rather than the dog handling the child in order to get the best performance from the dog.

now that is in the licensed show. there are kids bench show held at some events in where the child is under 18. it not a licensed event and it focuses on the child enjoying what they are doing rather than the correctness of what they are doing. it als0 exposes them to the shows and what they have to do and if they are younger, do not get discouraged if they are not selected to win class.

I don't know if that applies to all bench shows, I know it applies to Youth Nationals.
