man i wish i had kept her, instead of this all grand stuff.

.

I had a female that was doing awesome and got offered a nice amount of money for her and a pup when he bred her. Well he owned her a month a put her in a pen with a chain on her and she hung herself. I will always regret selling her.

A slight twist:

I can't tell you how many young dogs I have seen over the years that just weren't getting any better. Then they got sold and they start the woods on fire.

Most of the time, it has to do with the new handler. Face it a dog will respond differently to different people. One dog may need to be handled heavy handed. While another dog may respond better more positive reinforcement.

I have always felt that if you don't believe in a young dog it will never reach its full potential. Dogs are masters at reading people. They know how we feel.

Nope . If I sell one its because I definitely did not like it but treed coons . If I like one , no "logical" amount of money can buy it . Unless the the guy had more money than brains and if that's the case is have to think long and hard because no idiot will ever own one of my dogs!

I agree! Some dogs you just have to look them in the eyes and raise your voice til they look away and some it takes a switch etc.

I sold a dog back in 1996or97 because I had two pups doing good and could only hunt one. The pup I kept was the best young dog I have ever seen. Unfortunately he got blastomicosis and went blind and sterile so I couldnt even raise pups from him. I have learned now to keep a couple round just in case. The pup I sold was a very good pup too, he could tree coons, hold pressure, split tree and have the coon at 11 mo. old. He ended up to be the Wild Casey pup Babe Dabbs had for a while.and sold for big money.
