Bait coons not skunks!!!!!!!!!!

Any one know what to use to bait live catch Have-a-heart coon traps that will attract coons but not skunks? Thanks for any information.

peanut butter and vanilla extract works well for me

always used cheap peanut butter and jelly globbed on nice n thick...i always hung it from a wire behind the pan just so they couldnt snatch it out of there...the peanut butter and jelly would also drip out onto the bottom behind the pan...rarely did i have stolen bait and no coon..

only time i remember catching anything but a coon was a squirrel...and that was only once...

I use canned cat food and make a small 'trail' of food around the trap and going up into it. I elevate the trap about a foot--I was catching skunks left and right until I elevated the trap. I also covered the traps with brush so you couldn't see them at all (I had to drive 30 miles to check my traps so I put a lot of effort into setting them just right).

Now I need a porkie--not sure how to get one of them while not getting skunks!

Drive around at night in porkie country with a shovel or a rake and a small pet taxi type airline crate. Use the shovel or rake to herd your porkie into the crate. I don't think porkies can be trapped. Have to go out and get them. Some are kinda fast. lol Take some teenagers. Can be pretty entertaining. We catch one before bird season to give all our dogs a reminder.

Live Trap

I use froot loops cereal. Dampen a little of it and put the rest in dry. Never caught a skunk yet. Coons can't seem to resist that smell.

i use buttered flavor syrup and bread put it in a pint jar that will keep coon from stealing it,have caught a few possums though but it works.have caught 4 coon in the last couple weeks putting trap on the edge of a creek.

Honey Bun.......a few pieces leading in and put the honey bun under the trap where the trigger plate is.......works great. Never got anything but a coon this way.
