Remington wingmaster 870 has never failed me yet.

Remington 1100 12 ga. Grandpa got tired of me of putting scratches on his Browning. I quit counting after 75 turkeys with it.

Got a Duck Unlimited issued 870 Wingmaster I won in a poker game. Shot it one time. Shoots like a rifle at 25 yds.

Actually the Griz fell to my 375 H&H.

But for my Favorite Shotgun, I'm torn between two... One is a Winchester 101 and the other is a Benelli Super Black Eagle.. Both of them cost way to friggin much, but man, they sure are sweet shooters.

Griz.where did you get him?

Posted by longshot on 02-10-2013 02:42 AM:

He was a Kodiak Island Bear. It was a special draw with about 2% odds of drawing and we got real lucky on a once in a lifetime hunt. Them is great BIG suckers too... Cowboy Hat sized tracks.

How does it feel to even kills something that could easily kill you? Was you nervous?

Posted by longshot on 02-10-2013 03:02 AM:

Oh my Lord yeah , it was very nerve racking. I hit him real good twice and Dad shot him a couple more times and he still got up and ran off. He had no idea where I was shooting from or he could have easily got to us before he died. I knew I had hit him hard and we tracked him through some thick stuff for about 400 yards and found him laying in a ditch that he didn't make it across.

I was only about 40 yards away when I saw him laying dead and it was one of the most hair raising times I've ever had in my life.

The 1st shot broke both shoulders and got both lungs and he still went 400 yards. Wow ! I heard him ROAR 4-5 times as he was running away and I'll never forget that sound. His hide measured 10 foot 2 inches from nose to tail

I just bought a Remington 870 20 gauge this Fall. So far, so good. I use it for squirrel and rabbit hunting. It has a plastic stock and special coating on the barrel for wet weather hunting. I replace the modified choke with a full choke to get squirrels out of the tops of trees.

I also have an old Westernfield .410 bolt action. It was my first shotgun. My mother bought it for me when I was 14 tears old. It is about 50 years old now. It is priceless to me.

870 Wingmaster. Have several of them. Still shoot the first 20ga. Wingmaster I bought. Love that old gun. Bought the 870 Express after they first came out, just not the same though doesn't have the same feel to me.

my favorite shotgun would be an old 4-10 bolt action. its supposed to hold 3 shells and 1 in the chamber but the springs are bad. doesnt eject the shells but it sure shoots good and it belonged to my dad when he was a boy and when i started deer huntin around 8-9 years old he gave it to me so it has alot of sentimental value i guess.

my favorite shotgun to take hunting is just an old 12 guage single shot H&R that i bought at a flea market

H & R 20 gauge topper model 88 single shot, has killed more game than I can count. But my favorite is Remington 11 87 can't miss with it fits like no gun i ever owned, just point and shoot in general direction of game and they just fall over dead LOL.

Mine is just a plain old mossberg 500 pump 12ga. Couldn't begin to count the number of squirrels, rabbits, doves, quails, and clay pigeons it has accounted for and yet none of that means nothing. That was my first and only gun my mom got for me. Worked herself ragged and saved for a long long time just to get the $125 or so to buy it from a pawn shop roughly 28-29 years ago. Have had or still own several different scatter guns but nothing compares in my eyes. Still to this day I cycle 3-4,000 rounds thru it hunting and target practice. Not enough Benjamins circulating to buy it either. I hope when my son gets older he can fully appreciate that old cheap gun and what it means history wise to me cause he's never been poor or ever wanted for nothing and doesn't really understand what it's like to HAVE to hunt to have a meal.

I have a few shotguns too,870 Express good gun,,plus a h&r 20 ga.,still got my old Stevens/Savage 12ga. that Mom bought me when i was 12 . But I let 1100 Remington several years back that is my alltime favorite. It was freak gun ,I won so many shooting matches ,,,guns ,money, hams, sides of bacon,,I was hardly ever beat with that gun,,many times I was asked to case it up ,which I did to give others a chance to win. But anyway I need to get it back or get me another 1100 because I have 2 more barrells for the 1100,,,One barrell I'm almost certain this newer one will out shoot the old one. I also need to find me a gunsmith that will thread a barrell to take rem choke tubes .
