3 month old pups too??
Dosage of ivermectin for heartworm prevention. Proper dosage is 2.72 mcg/lb of body weight. This is same dosage as heargard pills . A 65 lb dog would require 2.72 x 65= 176.8mcg ivermectin. One cc of cattle ivermectin contains 10 mg which equates to 10000mcg/cc. To properly dose your dog you would need to deliver .018 cc of ivermectin orally once a month. Since you can not measure that small amount in a syringe the proper thing to do would be to dilute the ivermectin. I suggest diluting 1 cc of ivermectin with 49 cc of propylene gylcol to yield 50 cc total. This will be a homogenious solution that will not have to be mixed before use. The concentration after dilution will be 10000mcg/cc divided by 50 cc yielding a solution of 200mcg/cc. Your 65 lb dog would now require a little less than a cc orally once a month. I dose mine 1cc and this falls within the acceptable range per the heartgard package insert. Hope this helps

For dogs over 50lb I use one "click" of Durvet Apple Ivermectin for horses.
That particular type, Durvet, has a smaller dose per "click" than others.
It works out to be 6,000 MCGS. I haven't had a worm of any kind in 15 years.
For complete worming, I believe Vets will use 200 mcgs per 1lb of body weight. Tapes are another story.
I use plain Invermectin not the mixed ones for horses.
This is only about 1/2 our hounds !!! I feed out 65#s + per Day .. I'm currently feeding The Pride Dog Food and I mix at 50/50 the 26/18 and the 24/20 feed ..

I DO NOT want to feed 1 oz. to a Worm !!!!
I want My Hounds to be in the Finest Condition they can Be in.
Now If I thought For even 1 min. that I could get Our Worming program Below what I have it Now I would Jump on it !!!!!
Don't you think I have researched Every Single way to Worm our Hounds ??
If There was any Documented Proof that 1 click of somekind of Ivermectin Past would Truly be a "Total Wormer" with the exception of Tape Worms ... I would be Using it !!!!
Here are more that wern't in the Photo Above

I curently have our monthly worming program down to $2.68 per Hound and that still at around $100 but I'm Totaly Certin that I'm Worming at 100% with Documented Dosages of Worming Meds.

People using liquid Ivomec 1% will dose at 1/10CC per 10lbs of body weight for heart worms and preventing intestinal worms. Each 1/10CC is 1,000 MCGS.
You won't find documentation on using ivermectin for intestinal worms for dogs because it is an off-label use that Vets use every day of the week.
Ask your vet. The answer probably will be 10,000 - 20,000 mcgs for a full blown infestation.
With all those dogs, the 1% liquid is probably the best.
The only thing to be aware of is herding dogs that are MDR1 positive.
Otherwise, paste or liquid ivermectin is the safest and cheapest way to keep the dogs clean.
Pfizer Valbazen Suspension 500mL $44 ..
11.36 % suspension in liquid
Albendazale is the name of the active ingredient in the livestock dewormer Valbazen, manufactured by Pfizer Animal Health. It is available in paste form and as a drench (11.36 % suspension in liquid).
Although it has FDA approval for use in dogs, it has been found to be effective against a number of canine intestinal parasites. The drug has excellent activity against Whipworms and the common
hookworm and roundworm of dogs. It is also effective in treating one type of tapeworm, Taenia, and a less common protozoal parasite called Giardia.
The Tapeworm segments, or Proglattids, which are visible in an infected dog’s stool, contain eggs which are not directly contagious to another dog. These eggs must first be ingested by an intermediate host, in which they develop to another stage of their life cycle, and then be ingested by another dog before adult tapeworm can be developed by that dog. For Taeniid Tapeworms, the intermediate host can be a number of mammals, including rabbits. Diprylidium caninum, the species of tapeworm using the flea as its intermediate host, is apparently not as effectively killed by the use of Albendazale. Other tapeworm medication is necessary to treat dogs infected with this type of tapeworm.
The recommended dosage of Valbazen suspension needed to kill susceptible parasites is 25 mg 1 kg, given orally 2 times a day and continued for 2 or 3 consecutive days (2 days is adequate for treating giardiasis; 3 days is probably necessary for other parasites). When using Valbazen suspension, each dose would be about I cc per 10 lbs. of body weight, or 3 cc for a 30 lb. beagle. It is NOT considered safe for use during pregnancy ..
