-- 40cal or 45 cal? (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=928300162)

40cal or 45 cal?

Which caliber yall prefer? I've never had either. Going to buy one or the other. Mostly just for protection but might shoot a gator with it. I shot one with a 380 and it bounced off his head at point blank range. Finished him with a 45.

WELL......

US "BLABBER MOUTH NORTHERNERS" SPEND ABOUT THE SAME FOR .40 AS .45........ NOW.

SO FOR THE MONEY USE .45

Im a big fan of 45acp. We all hope we never have to pull the trigger but if you do you want the guy DOWN to stay. And if you pop a gator in the head with a 45 his eyeballs pop out.

Yeah I know the 45 will hurt one. I was just wondering if the 40 had decent stopping power. Prostockpat the other Feller started it. I should Prolly go edit that to liberal northerners.

There is no substitute for large calibers or cubic inches.

The 45 packs more punch.......... but the 40 is pretty dam# potent too. Ammo is about the same price. And with the right ammo both will stop a man/ gator sized target with one shot. One advantage the 40 has is magazine capacity. Mine holds 15 rounds

I was a police officer for 5 years a shot a Glock 40. The Glock sucked and so does the 40cal. Went to a s&w 9mm and shot circles around the 40. 45 is the way to go.

Can't go wrong with either one. Stay away from 9mm though not enough stopping power!

I am a ER nurse, we had a gunshot victim come in that took 11 40's and pulled through.

I own three different .45's. I feel confident that the results would/will be different.

Dern. I don't know what bullets the guy had in the 45 I shot the gator with but it didn't go through it. Then again. I see em killed all the time on swamp people with a .22 lol. I've never owned a semi auto over a .22 so Im torn. I know the 40s I've saw sure are a lot cheaper. Used ones anyhow.

I'd bet there is not a man or gator alive that could ever tell the difference.

ihave a 45 pistol also have a 40 carbine the 40 was all i could get i wanted the 45 carbine but since getting the 40 ihave killed deer out to70 yards just use cheap bullets to practice and premium ones for protection or hunting. i would hate to take a bullet from either it all comes down to shot placement

I have killed a black bear with a Glock 40....not recomended to try and do so, but I did kill it in 10 shots.

It really makes little difference with any calber GAP amno. 45 ACP well that is a difference. Most GAP ammo is designed for min penn so not to blow threw a bad guy and harm a bystander. ACP well you are going to have a enter exit hole in most cases.

I personally love the Glock in the 40 cal, just never could get use to the 1911 frame, thats me.
