do they work just had the guy at vets office tell me they did not work?

Progesterone testing as well as LH is very accurate. With kits you are looking at wells with colors to go off of. Bitches ovulate around a 5 ng/ml. You breed 72 hours post ovulation with frozen semen. The LH surge usually occurs at around 2ng/ml and you would breed 4-6 days post LH surge. If you are breeding naturally or with a fresh AI the test kits are good enough. I would never recommend using them for frozen or chilled semen. They are simply not near accurate enough. If you use a test kit and it indicates a bitch has ovulated...you have no idea when. Then you are just guessing and might waste another 6 months waiting on your bitch to come back in.
