$1,000

Beretta 92FS Centerion 9mm
Or
A nice used Kimber
Or
A Walther P22 or P380 with a Lazor sight extra clips/ holster and a ton of ammo, plus it won't ring your ears when you shoot.

you hit the nail on the head there !!!

self defense perposes, personally I would get a glock 19 couple high cap mags and the rest I would buy ammo with if you can find it. Or I would by the hand gun I could find ammo for.

My best friend bought the SR-9 about 6 months ago and carries that thing everywhere. They seem to be a purdy dang good firearm.

If I had a grand to spend on one, it would be a Kimber Ultra Carry II in .45 ACP. They are really sharp. But with that being said, when I get off work tomorrow I'm buying a Ruger SR40c for myself and either a Ruger SR9c or a Kel-Tec PF9 for my wife. She hasn't made up her mind yet. But we will both be using them as our new concealed carry weapons. We both have Springfield xD's right now

I have had one of the ultra carry ll for a while. No doubt a nice looking and well shooting stock 1911. day after i bought it shot it for the first time in idpa match and won with It pretty happy with that lol. Tried carrying it for a bit but the full size 1911 are just too heavy and bulky for every day carry for me. Love working on em and shooting them though. Imo the glock 23 is probably about the best carry pistol you can buy. Personally id double think the kel-tec. Have owned several and worked on several for others. Have had nothing but trouble with them - all mostly minor and usually spring related issues but still kept the pistol from firing. Not what I want in a carry gun for protection when it counts. Just my experience know some guys that love them too.

You can buy 5 junky kel tech or a nice Kimber or nice smith. Look at a 1911 or a smith shorty 40. I have both the 1911 is a big frame but will drive tack with the best of them. The shorty forty is real nice to carry and holds a few more rounds plus mine has night sights.

I have my carry gun which I love and my home / truck gun which I love so if I have an extra free $1000 to spend I'm going to get something to carry in bear / wolf country while dog training or fishing. I'm thinking a S&W 629 44 mag with 4" barrel. $949. I need some more free money for a holster. lol
