A Tribute to Gann's Finisher

1970 ACHA World Champion.
I know some of you hunted with Finisher. Please post your memories and thoughts of this great hound.

He could burn a fox better than any hound I ever hunted with. He was probably the best track dog I ever followed. A coon did not have a chance when he was after him. His closest likeness was a grandson that won the 82 World Hunt, Striker. Thanks for the pics. It makes this old man feel a bit younger.

First walker I ever owned was a female out of that litter. Took a year to start her. Sit down tree dog. I drew out with riley feltman owner of lenawee queen at the onsted club She put on a coon treeing show down in the bottoms of bear creek. All Riley could say to his hunting buddy who I think was John? was " well thats another one we should have kept" LOL

Well I just found it. How did I miss this. The last I heard Pride was in bad shape with alzheimers. Finisher was a coon dog.

Ernest Griggs, 88 was laid to rest today. Ernest owned Finisher and he was the one who sold him to Pride Gann. As for as Finisher being a track dog it was like this this, a coon had to climb and climb quick or he would be caught. Ernest was President of the Board of Directors of A C H A many years ago 4,when A C H A was THE organization, and he was responsible for the World Hunt being held in West Point, Ms.

GANN'S FINISHER - BEANBLOSSOM BUCK - SWINNEY'S DIAMOND JIM

I thought Gann's Finisher would tree a rougher coon then Beanblossom Buck. I was lucky enough to hunt them both together. Buck was a good hound but I think Finisher was tougher.

The thing that caught my attention about some of these hounds is years after winning a World Championship the owner would put them in it again. I don't think to prove anything except they had a coon dog.

1970 ACHA World Champion Gann's Finisher

In 1970 Gann's Finisher won the ACHA World Championship

In 1974 Finisher was hunted in it again and placed 3rd in the ACHA World Championship

1973 ACHA WORLD CH. GRAND NITE CH. BEANBLOSSOM BUCK

In 1973 Buck won the ACHA World Hunt. He was hunted again in it in 1975 and placed 5th.

1974 ACHA WORLD CHAMPION GRAND NITE CHAMPION SWINNEY'S DIAMOND JIM

AT 10 YEARS OLD HAVING PLACE 7TH IN THE 1978 ACHA WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

In 1974 Swinney's Diamond Jim won the Grand American Championship and the Little World Championship. He then topped off the year by winning the 1974 ACHA World Championship. These were three of the biggest hunts of they year at that time. He not only placed in all three he won all three.

Then in 1978 he was again hunted in the ACHA World Championship and placed 7th at 10 years of age.
