Old wise saying about a pup

My grandpa always had a old wise saying about black being on the top of the pups mouth. Can't remember and does anybody know what it is.

Saying was top of the mouth is black he will be a coonhound. My grandpa told me the same thing....

How true is it. I have a 2 yr old she has one black dot in her mouth and she isnt hitting on much and my new pup has alot of black in its mouth.

there is alot of these: roof of the mouth black, 3 wiskers under chin, large smart knot, 1st pup to get out of the box, the runt is best, and so on. I always look at the mouth and wiskers, and go from there. I don't know if there is anything to but so far it has worked pretty good. Thanks DAD and GRANDPA!

Old timer told me once pick the pup with the biggest butthole he'll make the best dog, he's always got a nice hound with a giant turd cutter so maybe there's something to it lol

how big is his poop chute?

top of the mouth all black,, treeing whiskers,,,big butthole,coon knot on the head,,blue eyes ive only seen two pups born with blue eyes they turned a bright yellow when they got older,,,short tail the list goes on and on

and I don't remember seeing one that wasn't black. lol

forgot to add the blue eyes atleast from what i was told ment the dog was all track never would tree and i geuss its true because the two dogs i seen blue eyed which were grade dogs english and walkers never treed but made two of the best deer dogs ive loaded in my box.

I always connected the blue eyes with Stylish Queen which was always a good thing.

these had bright baby blue eyes chance most of my pups come out with a blue haze over their eyes but get dark as they age but my grade dogs were bright baby blue then went to a bright yellowish gold when they matured

Dark eyes, dark pads, dark nails, dark roof, big A hole, smart knot, whiskers...man my dog has it all, unfortunately it's just the opposite for myself, so I must assume its my fault that she is not living up to her full potential!!!

I have a Bellar female that has the whole side of her face brown i've been told that is a sign of the best one of the litter has anybody heard that about the Bellar dogs.
