daytime or nightime?

Ive never coon hunted before but trying to train a 9 month old redbone and I was wondering if it would be better to get out at nights or in the mornings. I heard with it being cold their out in the daytime. Any help will work

At nine months old letem be a pup. Daytime walks will expose them to the walk in the woods experience and if they happen upon a coon trail so be it but don't expect a world nite champion. Theres something about learning slowly and taking it all in.

I start taking my pups to the woods in the day at 8 weeks old. I take them to woods that I will be hunting them in at nite. So when the time comes they will already know the woods and the smells. You have a better chance of them going off to hunt on that 1st nite out if they already know the woods. I usally only take them out at night by 7 months old. The reason being dogs will chase what they see, and the odds of jumping a deer in the day are pretty good. If you have a shock collar this is a great time to train. If you don't it can be a nitemare, and the start of bad habits. At 9 months old they can give chase for a long way becarefull and happy hunting.

Ive recently been fooling with a young bluetick female, and Ive had fooled with other dogs in the past. My preferred way is to get the dog out right at dark (If you are fooling with a coon). Let em smell it and bark at it in the cage. Then turn it loose and wait until the coon gets out sight and then turn your pup loose and to see if he can trail it up and tree it. When the pups are young I would turn them loose at least twice a day and interact with them much as you can. Take them into the woods and let them get use to the environment. There are so many ways different people use to train there dogs, but this way works well for me.

Ok thanks yall. Ive ran him at night time a couple nights but no luck. And like I said I'm still in the training process and hes barking at about everything else in the woods except a coon

First theres got to be a coon there for him to run.Coons are very few and very far between this time of year.This time of year is a very bad time to start a pup.I would wait till spring due to the weather and the dogs age.There are some real smart dog men around your area that you should try to buddy up with.

I always train my young dogs the way i plan on hunting them i hunt at night so i train at night but its good to get a pup out to the woods any time you can they need to learn to navegate creeks brush rock clifs and so on

Who are you talking about Jackson? Like i said ive never coon hunted so I don't know anyone

this time of year is not the best time to start a fresh dog i like to wait until spring them kittens make for easy races for the pups
