kids are crazy!!

son went bow hunting tonight, 13 degrees and wind blowing like crazy, he shot a big doe and when we got to tracking it "it only went 75 yards" we got to it and there was a coon just above it in a tree, the deer had been eaten on at the mouth, assumed the coon did it. field dressed it and it had triplets the size of your palm. seen a coyote on the way out also. he seen close to 40 deer, no bucks! game is starting to feel the hardships of winter!! supposed to be worse weather tomorrow and he is already to get back in a tree stand! could not pay me to bow hunt in this crap!!! must be nice to be young!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every thing about that sounds illegal here. yalls laws must be prettyleanient

Posted by mauser06 on 01-22-2013 07:24 AM:

what sounds illegal about it??

from my experience southern game laws/seasons/bag limits and laws are more lenient than up north...but our seasons seem to start later and go later...

here in PA there are still a few areas open to deer hunting...i could go rifle hunt for a doe tomorrow...could also buck hunt with a bow or flintlock if i still had my buck tag...

tracking at nite is fine so long as we arent carrying a loaded weapon or hunting deer at nite...

always interesting to compare game laws and such...through work ive lived/worked in 3 other states...fished in 4 other states...hunted 1 other state...mind boggling sometimes....

when.i read up on NC game laws i was lost...i asked questions and found out a lot is fair game that isnt here in PA...

is the night refered to as evening or night. lol. thats the ?. here in va season has been over since bout first of the year when late muzzleloader whent out. are the deer in ohio that overpopulated that they need killed this time of year full of babies. wish theyd relocte them to the mountains of va because are deer sure are scare.

Posted by Cheyenne on 01-22-2013 07:28 PM:

should have specified i guess, he shot it at 5:35 pm, we can bow hunt 1/2 hour after sunset, and season is open into the first week of february. ohio does have one of the longest bow seasons, around here we would rather shoot mature does rather than young bucks and with the population of deer we have we need to thin some does out!!!

There are some places in va that have special bow seasons on into march.... Around here if you have any kind of crops (some times they even give permits to homeowners with shrubs and ornamental plants) it is very easy to get a kill permit and then you can pretty much kill them year round. Even at night with lights. I know of two farms that in just a couple of nights at each farm they had killed over 150 off each farm! Within a few weeks couldnt even notice that they put a dent in the numbers!

here in ohio you can get nussianse permits also anytime of the year, the farm i work for had them but it don't help much, shoot one and when you turn your back they are right back out eating

i guess every county is different. they give out permits here for the orchard but its not just any lil ol orchard either. they also have dogs running loose to keep deer out. sometimes the game laws make no sense.

Man you got to get out of them hills and come on down to the flat lands! LOL No BS the deer are like rats in a dumpster around here. I just got tired of killing them and havent deer hunted for probably 5-6 yrs. Most places you hunt around here they want you to kill 3-4 does to every buck. Does in for entire season. Early Oct-Jan. ANd I'll tell you the absolute worst part of when they killed all those deer one the two farms I was talking about - they weren't even allowed to give them away for anyone to eat! Threw em all in a pit!!!! Now thats some stupid game laws if you ask me!!

it would be nice to get outa these mountains and do a little hunting but hard to get permission anymore hard. hard to even find places to coon hunt. sucks. people just plain dont want people on their property anymore.

Our deer season in South Carolina ends at the first of the year. On some managed land bow season ends on Dec. 22. Im glad our deer doesnt run until February. LOL. I wouldnt be able to coon hunt some of the hunting clubs I get to hunt.

If you want a dog hunted hard, just give it to a kid. They don't make excuses why not to go but why they should be going.
