Wound Powder

What do you recommend for stopping bleeding on dogs? I had one got the tip of his ear on something last night. It finally stopped but it bled really badly for a while. I've never really had one bleed like that and don't want to get caught again without it.

Plain old flour or cornstarch will work in a pinch ,, But if you can get liquid or powdered styptic from a druggist it will do the trick .Sometimes you can even buy the little styptic pencils from a barber,,,heck i still use one when i nick myself shaving .

One word of caution ,Have someone hold your dog because the styptic will burn/sting like crazy for about 30 seconds ,,lol

Ear will really pour. septic stick, cornstarch, like mentioned above will all work but if the dog wants to shake or flop his ears the blood will sometimes cut loose again. If its a cut use superglue to pur the skin together or buy some emt gel or a brand of powder called quikstop

Ears and feet bleed like they are dying....

I carry a small container or quick stop...like was said, it will burn for a few seconds...can get it at petsmart or wherever if you dont have a hound dog.place close..thats where i got mine...

Emt gel, antiseptic spray, some sort of gauze and vet wrap are all in the truck...i carry the quick stop with me as ears are always getting cut by thorns or a coon that wasnt as dead as i wanted it to be before it hit the ground

ashes

just plain old camp fire ash works well , if it is on a ear if you can cut the bottom out of a sock slip it over his head, keeps um from shaken it into bleeden
