rabbits in tennessee

my dad has been raising run rabbits for several years around 15 or better. he started with what they call san juan rabbits they was rabbit. then he was looking to beef up the running rabbit he fount some what they call florida cotton tail. they would run for sure but across my hay feild like a deer if they didn't find cover they could be caught. then he got what they call knot head rabbits. in my oppinion they was the perfect pup starter stayed in fence rows and cover making a pup look for him. he started crossing all of them up and came up with agressive running rabbits. but he was looking for something else to beef his rabbits i don't no what he has came up with but for better than a year we have been watching these rabbits and running them with my beagles on the farm we turn them aloose on our farm to see how there going to run and hold up. these things are doing good there is one in the hollow he makes bigger circles than any turn aloose rabbit i have ever seen. me and my friend was back in the hollow doing some work turned my beagles aloose they where running a rabbit he came by us at first we thought it was a big house cat we noticed it was a rabbit he ran for better than a hour. then i caught my beagles i found it is best to turn small numbers aloose a lot of fellows buy like 10 rabbits that just makes a bigger target for other game to get them. i turn about three aloose at cover and let them widen out there selves they won't be as big a target that away. my dad still raises rabbit sometimes it is hard to catch him with rabbits he cut back on them feed got so high.

my blue beagle female had her pups today. hope she has two blue females. the male i breed her to has a mouth like a walker coon hound. she is a good jump dog. he is good about keeping the track going. he is blanket back.

i think i will have some extra pups. my dad says he has 11 rabbits to sale.

my dad sold his 11 rabbits today said he should have some a couple of weeks. my blue female had 5 males.

bought me a registerd blue male over the weekend. he acts nice didn't jump a rabbit with him the other day. but he wasn't the only one not jump one. just didn't seem to be anything stirring. i have a little tri color female i will take him with tommorow she jumps alot for me. i took her the other evening about 1 hour she jumped three for me. i think i will see what he is made of.

not rite of hand i have some male pups out of a jump female. there around 4 weeks old now.

hunt

had alot of fun this weekend went rabbit hunting with some freinds had some big races. my young blue female run a track away from the other beagles and run the rabbit by us 4 times. they didn't anybody take a shot at the rabbit. we jumped 8 rabbits and had a big time.

haven't been hunting the last couple weeks my beagles started bringing me little rabbits my hollow is full of baby rabbits.

sold my blue male pup been weaned about 2 weeks was letting him run loose in the yard he would be up by the barn sometimes was always active. hope they have the best of luck with him.

got rabbits all over the hollow been seeing them in the feild by the grave yard seem to be a good rabbit crop this year. i think my dad has a few rabbits to sale right now to.

my dad has had some run rabbits that would absolute run and raise in the wild gotproof on the farm. i have enjoyed working with them and studying how they raise and how to use them in the wild. he tod me the price of the feed is going to put him out. he is saleing out and hate it. but don't blame him it has been easy staring pups and keeping rabbits around to not worry about turning aloose on trash. but it might be harder now.

My dad sold the run rabbits he had to sale yesterday sold to a man that bought some from him two years ago and turned aloose in run pin.

have two young females been running good they have caught two half grown rabbits this past week. had a good crop of rabbits this year can't wait to start running my dogs. been running some to get them out a little but been watching them because i have so many young rabbits right now.

Went back in the hollow and jumped some rabbits made me want to turn my beagles loose
