cleaning a aluminum box

what is the best way to clean up a aluminum diamond plate box . the out side is oxidized . thanks foir any help .joe.

They make a product (Aluminim Cleaner) that you can buy at most auto parts stores that you just spray on then hose off after a few mins. They get it for us here on the Fire Dept by the gallon, ours is called Aluma-Brite

A co-worker used a product I think he said was called California Custom that he got from a peterbuilt dealer ship that he shines up his wheels. He never let's them get oxidized so don't know how good it will work for you

Aluminum Boxes

Go to Auto parts store and ask for a product called NEVER DULL
I think it as an EAGLE product. It is in a short can about 3 1/2 "
in Diameter. When you open the can it looks like cotton wadding.
Just pull off a wad and rub the box down and then wipe off the haze. It will look brand new again. Best stuff I have ever used.

You better watch what wheel cleaner you buy the stuff to clean a lot of wheels warns against using on polished aluminum because it will etch the aluminum and make it white!!!! And hazy just get some good aluminum polish and a buffer and go to work a, that are elbow grease will work !!! Watch out for something that is suppose to be quick because as usual most things that sound to good to be true probably are!!! Jmo

Google "FLITZ". It's the same stuff they use on all aluminum aircraft that aren't painted.I haven't used it yet,but from what a bunch of aircraft mechanics have told me----it works really great!!I'm gonna buy some myself before too long.

Easiest stuff is naval jelly, just slop it on with a brush, wait a while and hose it off. Your box will sparkle.

I clean aluminum pots and pans with cream of tartar, available at grocery stores, either in the spice department or near the baking powder. Its in powder form. Mix into a paste, rub on and rinse.

If its diamond plate it most likely has a clear coat finish on the aluminum from the metal factory.. Most wheel cleaners have muratic acid in them which turns the clear coat a white milky color.. The best thing to do to make it look the best is go to your local auto parts store and get Mothers Finest aluminum polish.. Its a lot of rubbing and polishing but puts the mirror finish back to aluminum..

I bought a box off here about 2 yrs ago. It was supposed to be brand new never used. It looked good in the pics the guy sent me so I decided to go get it. I drove 2.5 hrs cause it was just want I wanted. I got there all the screws in it were rusty and the box was oxidated bad. Since I drove so far I offered him 50 less than what he wanted AMD bought it. Gettin it looking good was a HARD JOB. I finally ened up getting NEVER DULL and a buffing wheel for my drill. It was the only thing that worked .I HIGHLY recommend it. Be prepared to spend alot of time on it because like I said it wasn't an easy job and very time consuming. But after I shinned it up and bought all nee screws it looked brand new.

Mothers and elbow grease or one them balls that go on a drill will make it shine
