NEW dog

Just bought me a new hound, hunted her only with the man I bought her from with another of his dogs. Bought her under the 2nd tree. My question is what is the appropriate time to wait to get her use to me so that she will hunt for me. She will be by herself more as I will be sending a pup with her. Any suggestions

If she's a coondog, you can cut her loose right now and she'll go tree you a coon.

about two or three weeks but i wouldnt put a pup with her until i find her strength and weekness and if she can tree on her own chances are if she will do it with another dog might take a good 3 monnths of solid hunting befor she does it if she hasnt already but she will start treeing on her own.

ALL DOGS ARE NOT THE SAME! It just depends on how she acts. Some you can hunt the next nite and you have to give them some time to get use to you. Just watch how she acts around you, most of the time you can tell by the way they act. Good luck

no insult intended.

depends on how long you want to feel good about buying her without seeing her go alone on a third turnout.

I would say as soon as you feel like she knows you well and trusts you then turn her loose. Some dogs are shy and take time to acclimate, some are bold and only have one thing on their mind. If you can call her name in the backyard and she comes to you, I would hunt her but if she takes more time and is leery of you, I would wait. Happy huntin.
