These two are as good as any I know of around here. I have tried the comp hunting and really dont care for it. If you want to pleasure hunt though these two dogs are a ball to hunt with. My son Wesley got his coon hunting degree in February. That night we lost both dogs due to battery dying in old tracker reciever. We drove around until we could hear Dexter and started walking. We got to him around 2:30 am and the last time I heard him open on track was around 9:15 pm. The wind was blowing so bad we couldn't find Briar. I left Briar, got in bed at 5:30 am and was awaken at 9:30 to the phone ringing. A guy had went into the WMA early that morning said he could hear him treeing, he quit just after sun up and came into there camp.

Man I am tickled to death for you that is what coon hunting is about. Me and my son enjoy the same way. Hope Dexter and Briar serve you well.. Dexter ought to have a real good mouth , and be a nice tree dog.

Rocky he is LOUD and one heck of a tree dog. Briar is real laid back and Dexter is wound tight.

Jonathan My daddy is hunting Dexter's Littemate she is turning into a stomp down good hog dog.. She treed coons , a little to tight for most on tracks, and her mouth went from extremely loud to almost nothing when treed. She looks exactly like Dexter. I'm probably gonna breed her in the future. She still will get hooked on a tree every now and then, LOL

Dexter is pretty tight on the track but when he does open everybody knows and he is loud at the tree. Rocky I have been very lucky with Dexter as he hasn't treed or run any off game that I know of. If he has run off game he done it quitely. Briar has treed 3 opposums but afer a few coon he hasn't fooled with any off game that I know of either. These are just 2 good mountain dogs because they generally are not long range hunters, they are usually say 1/4 - 1/2 mile treed.
