New Info Required on Dog Licenses
Just recently got my dog license renewal forms in the mail. The price has gone up......it will now cost me over $600 per year to keep my dogs, because they are not spayed or neutered.
In addition to that bad news, the forms have been changed, & they now want to know if you no longer have a particular dog, WHERE IS THAT DOG; did the dog die, or was it sold / given away to someone ?
If the dog was sold or given away, the new forms now insist that names & full addresses of the new owners be listed on the dog license forms, even if the dog went to another state or country.
I believe this is a violation of the Rights of Privacy, and I do not think that these new owners are going to want MY Township to have their names & addresses. I am not comfortable with giving out this type of information, either !!!! What business is it of the Township's, anyways ?
Does anyone else have to deal with this sort of thing ??
I'm sorry you have to deal with that sound like a mess. I would move and tell em to shove it where the sun don't shine! I can't believe people think they have the right to charge you if you don't spay or neuter your pets, hounds, etc. I think that in itself is a violation of your rights honestly and truly. Man this country has gone down the drain in a lot of ways.
Where is that? Them folks are crazy as betsy bugs! I took my dog to get rabies shots in my nextdoor county. Then my county calls and says I owe them money for some kind of fee. I lmao at em an said checks in the mail. Who knows. I may be wanted now or something but Im not paying that stupid crap.

Here in Michigan is where this happened. A lot of the smaller towns now have Animal Rights activists in their local Humane Societies and Animal Control positions. These people are hell-bent on finding out who has how many dogs.
Some Michigan cities have been paying college students to go door to door looking for dogs without a license. Dog licenses can bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars, especially when you charge people "late fees", penalties, etc, on top of the current license fee.
Last year, they caught a friend of mine by doing that type of door to door canvassing, and it cost her a small fortune. She has 4 dogs (city limit was THREE) and had never bought licenses for any of them. She had to pay $160.00 fine. She's lucky they didn't force her to give up her fourth dog...
They could come get my dogs if they thought they were bullet proof.
Bottom line is that is flat out lunacy. No freaking way should you have to pay a fee to keep you dogs on your land on your bill. I understand stopping animal hording, but for crying out loud this is ridiculous.
I would have to get the heck out of dodge man. That city is flat out insane.

New Info Required on Dog Licenses
I have lived in this area for over 14 years, now. Before I moved out here, I had spent a full YEAR researching areas to live that did not have all kinds of restrictions on dog owners.
At that time, this town (where I now live) was one of the best areas in the state for dog breeders; there was no limit on the number of dogs allowed, and the Twp. Supervisor was very "dog-friendly". "Animal Rights" was just a fuzzy term back then...
Four years ago, things changed drastically, & that is when all the trouble started. A dog limit law was suddenly (and secretly) put into place, which made many of us targets, as we had more dogs than the new limit law allowed. The new limit law allowed up to a maximum of 5 fur-bearing animals per homesite (not just dogs; if you had a couple of cats, they counted as part of the 5...).
We now have Animal Rights type people in positions where they can do damage to anyone who keeps multiple dogs, or breeds them. And now, they are paranoid about hoarding, which is why the limit law was put into place, I believe.
These types of situations happen everywhere. It does not matter where you move to; things can always change, and not for the better. This is an agricultural area, & I am surrounded by over 100 acres (not my land, but it is actively being farmed). One would think that would be enough. Apparently, it is NOT.
In Michigan, there is a State Law that dictates that ALL dogs over the age of 4 months MUST be vaccinated for rabies, AND have a current dog license. That law has been in effect since 1919. In previous decades, it may not have been enforced. It is now...
