laid off

Not looking for sympothy, but I just need to vent. I have worked my as* off for a man for the last eleven years, today he told me that I was the best employe that he had ever had and that he loved me like a son.... Also added that I have made him more money than any employee in his 27 years of bussiness had ever made....... Then informed me that he could no longer afford my sallery......... And that HE needed to make more money, and that the only way he could do that was to let me go.

Very sorry to hear that bud. If you dont mind me asking what did you do for him? It sounds like quality at his business is gonna go downhill. It doesnt sound like a good business move on his part. I hope you find work soon.

He owns a pawn gun and archery shop. August would have been 11 years that I have been there. I started as the archery pro, and then about 6 years ago I became incharge of managing the whole place. He told me today that he needed to pay himself more inorder to build his social security up so that when he retired he would get more money. Wouldn't bother me as bad if I didn't have a 3 year old son and a 5 year old little girl that depended on their daddy.

Man I really hate to hear it. Sounds like you've got some great experience and a glowing reference out of the deal if nothing else. Good luck to you and keep your head up

Posted by cripple creek on 12-30-2012 01:45 AM:

Hey bud.....I know this from experience

now.....but didnt at the time. God never closes a door that he doesnt have another one better for you to open to you.
Just get alone with him and ask him to show you what it is he wants you to do. Tell him to make it clear for you and show you the way.
I had a company I was working for close all of a sudden like that. It took us a couple of months to shut it down and move everything to another state. I was in management and just couldnt understand and was very fearful what to do at the time and I prayed what I told you to pray and within 6 weeks I had another job and ended up working two jobs for that two week period and never missed a check. drew two checks for two weeks. I was better off and got a better paying job to boot.

God is good. He will show you the way.

. I definatly do. But I lack the financial backing that it takes to get a place started. I truly appreciate what every one has said, it means a lot to me. I've worked my tail off for everything my family has and I will continue to do so. Honestly never thought I'd be in this position but I reckon I will just keep on diggen. Thanks yall.

man sorry to hear that, vent all you want. I got laid off in dec 1 08. so what I did was I went and register for college classes. I work odd jobs to pay bills, and go to college full time. I will be out in a year with a degree that will pay almost double then what I was making. Keep your head up, and remember there is no shame in being mad or feeling bad about it. Prayers are going up to you and your family. may GOD Bless you.

he could have given you a warning of a few months. he didn't all of a sudden need to put more money into his retirement. i think he was pretty low down to treat a loyal and faithful employee that way. and people wonder why good help is hard to find.

Greed is a horrible thing. He has always cared more about a doller than a person. Reckon I just felt like I was above that.

A few years ago, I lost a job that I liked very much. It hurt me alot, but I found out that sometimes things happen for a reason. I ended up with a job that paid almost double the salary that I was making and had alot better benefits. Hang in there, you sound like a person that would be a benefit for anyone to hire. You will get through this and you will probably say the same thing I said, that I was glad I lost the job because I ended up a whole lot better off. God bless you and your family.

i know the feeling , been laid off 6 months now , deisel mechanic in the coal mines , i also have a background in tractor and trailer repair but things are a bust here in west virginia for coal and indusdtries connected with it . i got out of the mines for bout a year and worked for a road construction company as a mechanic and made good money best i ever made , got into the union this way to but went to one of our sites and fixed a hydrualic problem ona cat dozer when i got done it was alittle past noon got a phone call to come back to shop when done so i did , our foreman was standing with our welder looking at a dozer blade he was working on so i walked up to him and said whats up and he was very casul asking how my day was and what not and if i fixed the dozer ,i said yeah and told him what i found and how i fixed it , and he said oh by the way i met your wife n kids the other day at the grocery store your wife was behind me in line and she seen my company shirt with our logo on it and made small talk that her husband worked there , and he said well lets run inside to the office real quick , walked in and he handed me my check and said where letting ya go , we feel we need to head in another direction with our employees , so i asked after you set there and tell me bout my wife in kids you kick me right in the face basically ? he responded by saying well i guess iam goona have to call the law to remove you from the building since your goona get disgruntle ? it wouldnt have bothered me if my wife and kids werent mentioned ! companys care less about you anymore ! your just an employee number . hang in there doors will open , seems like you hit the low before the high , what iam running into is ive interviewed for jobs thats alot less pay and they wont hire me cuase i made alot more they say well your not gonna be happy here , and all this b.s. even though i can do the job in my sleep ! hang in there bud i worked a job 6 years and they where private owned equipment dealership they came in and said we had to take a pay cut cause the owners werent making enough money , they had 21 mechanics at our location now they have 6 last i checked so hopefully the owners are able to buy bologna and bread now !!!! good luck man .........

If you felt so good about yourself why didn't you jine some kind of Onion? Yall make buggy whips to pawn or what?

My guess is the Fool was trying to make you FEEL GOOD about him needing to skim more money. I never let anybody go until I was about borrowing money to keep laber working and they were working doing what I asked but it was prehistoric stuff they were doing and I was asking. My advise is don't get into his line of work no matter how good you Felt about youself. You can see it was on a downhill slide. DON'T YOU?
