Been hearing that Tops will be around $10 here in mid Mo. so you can guess what a normal hide will bring. Maybe $6.

David, where are you selling them, I have gotten only as high as 8 for the largest ones.. Averaging about $5.50...

Just sold 31 to Groenwold and averaged just a hair over 20 bucks. Tops were 30 and bottoms were 12. The way some people bring their hides to market I'm surpised they get anything for them.

I sold 2 weekends ago. only had 10 coon couple little ones $6 average. $12 for my biggest and 2 at $10

thats about what a fella autta get for a bunch of larger hides that are skun out and curry combed. I agree w/ya on the guys pickin up carcasses off the road and selling others full of burrs etc and thinkin they shud get $15 straight thru. Last cupl yrs I have had a darn good avg from Groenewald if ya take care of yer hides they seem to recognize that and shows in yer fur check.......

Breezy is right, comb em out before and after ya freeze em and you'll do better. Some come to the buyer looking like they were dragged there behind the truck. Mine were nov. hides and they were big. Don't hurt to shoot em in the head and don't let the dogs rag em. I got four this week I want to sell this tues and I'm hoping for 25 average. They're big and furred out nice. From now on you'll find out what kinda dog ya got. The dumb ones are dead and the big ones will run till it gets very cold. Best have a dog that's stone broke and you can have some very good hunts and make a couple bucks too.

If you are close to Detroit you might look at a specialty market. A fellow is visiting relatives down here and says they can't get any up there unless they hunt. I get $10 a head across the board. I leave the fellow a message when I finnish hunting how many I got and he comes in the early morning and leaves the money in a jar. He buys them for the meat for his hunting club. He says he has started selling the green hides and gets between $3 - $8.
