Mine would start slicking pretty bad the more coon I shot. So I quit shooting them. Only a few a yr. Made all the difference in the world. Shed chew a coon and get so hyped up it musta messed with her brain. Id try not shooting them and not hyping the pup up at the tree.

I agree with genetics. You might be able to slow it down some but you will never stop it. Your dog will likely be a climber also.

Try this might work might not since jacking is mostly genetic when you leash your dog leash her to the tree if its small enough to leash to leash it up high so the dogs tip toes are only on the ground not high enough you will choke it just high enough it can't get the force needed to jack might break it from jacken after a few times

she is not bad as some that run tree higher than ur head but she does bounce up and down and go around the tree a lot,i usually tie her back from the tree after i get there.she does knaw the tree more than i like and quits barking when she knaws.but i don't think she needs all those coons which i believe i making her hiper and knaws and has her running around the tree, she is wound 440 anyway.we need to save the coon around her anyway we are not run over with them anyway.thanks guys for the response.
when the leaves were on before kill season came in she wasn't as bad but since kill season came in she has gotton worse.

I dont think knockin coon out makes a dog jack a tree, alot of it starts when people haul coons up a tree in a cage for pups to tree on and the bad habbit starts. Every time that dog gets treed sit down for 20 minutes before you walk in and shoot the coon. Do this every night for a week and i bet you have a different treedog.

john, this pup ran loose on a farm and started running and treeing on her own,in my thinking she was not handled as she should have been and stayed treed to long which started the chewing thing and maby the tree jumping.anyway she is wound tight most of the time with one thing on her mind which is treeing a coon.just hope she settles down before to long...

i dont think you can fix a tree jacker or a dog that chews.i knew a guy that had a dog that chewed so bad the he wouldnt bark enough to find him,so he took him to the vet and had his teeth pulled but it didnt help any cause the dog would just gum the tree lol. i had a dog that was bad about tree jacking but as he got older he wasnt near as bad as when he was young.
