Danny G.'s Blue Creek Kennels

Season is in and I'm having fun hunting Alice II and Alice. I haven't hunted Alice much since getting her back. She's worth to much to me right now to have something stupid happen while out hunting. The future of this kennel and where I go from here is on her shoulders and her offspring so until the pups are born, she's just a kennel hound. Looks like she is coming in season now, found a few drops of blood in the kennel today so soon she will be bred to Grnite PR. Backwoods Tuff Enough Echo Joe owned by Bodie Cannon and Troy S. Cait wait till this happens. I'm looking for this cross to be a good one. All 9 pups from Piazon and Alice cross are getting it done in the timber and I'm sure Alice will do her part with this next cross. Never hunted an Echo bred hound but I'm looking foward to it. Alice II will be the next female to whelp pups her at the kennel and when her time comes, not sure which direction I will go with her as of right now but it will be another outcross for sure. I believe right now at this time that line breeding back to Alice or Alice II will give me pretty much the same that I have, so outcrossing is going to be in my future plans here at the kennel. As always, everyone is welcome to come by for a hunt if your passing thru. We should be able to tree a coon or two around here somewhere's. If ya get to bored, give me a gingle and we can tree some over the phone! Thanks to all that have purchased pups and young hounds from me over the years and as always, I'm still looking for the next great cross to put me and hound back on the road once again!! Thanks, Danny G.

Pete

Thank you much!! Bob has been sending vids of Jack on the wood. He told me he's doing a real nice job. Been hunting Alice II. She's doing great! Treedog delux!! Hunted her last nite and she got struck in at 860 yds and fell treed at .72 miles. That's a long walk for an ole man like me! Shot out a big boar! Alice should be bred next week. Can't wait for some pups to hit the ground out of her and Joe!! Later, Danny G.

Some good sounding dogs Danny. I'm wanting to breed my female to Piazon in the future, she is bred up some of the same stuff as your Alice female.

Well

Things just aren't going my way so it looks like a long road trip to Atoka,Ok 1075 miles to try and get Alice bred to Joe naturally. Vet can't seem to get him drawn off to ship any. It's been my plan to breed her to a Echo bred hound and I'm going to see it thru and do my part to make it happen if possible. Maybe Troy's Zeb is an option also!! This is driving an ole man like me nuttier than I already am!! Bluetick hounds,ya got to love'm!! Leaving Thurs. AM!!

Posted by Ron Jackson on 12-13-2012 12:34 AM:

Well my hunting buddy decided to leave tonight at around 5:00 pm to make the long drive to OK to breed Alice to Joe. If you want to make GOD laugh tell him your plans! Ol Joe didnt like the idea of not getting to have an up an close personal date night with Alice so as the old song goes " On The Road Again" for Danny. I'll keep an eye on Alice II for Dan while he is gone, it will be hard for me to not take her to the woods while in my possesion! I will be content to hunt her sister Roxy which is handfull for this old coonhunter. Wish Dan a safe trip out and back and mabey we will have us a little ECHO blood here in NE Ohio around the end of Febuary. I am pretty sure Dan will hunt with Zeb and Joe before he makes the long ride home. Be safe Buddy!

9:05 am

I didn't make it to a treestand! Maybe Sunday morning I'll feel up to it! Back is sore and my whole body is aching from the long trip down and back! Thier definately something to the old saying, theres no place like home and I was sure glad to be back at Berlin Center,Ohio. Long trip and my first stop,I picked Joe up at Krebs,Ok on the way down to Troy's. Eric Wynn, the vet, was a super nice guy. I asked if he could run a swab test on Alice and he did and looked like my thinking was right. She was ready to be bred so I loaded up Joe and went on down to Atoka to meet up with Troy and make this happen. I got 2 hours sleep while waiting for Troy to meet up with me on route 3 and go to his place. While pulled over by a place called blue barn rentals I decided to get Alice out and let her stretch her legs and do her bussiness. When I got her out,ole Joe was making a fuss in the box. Whining like a kid who didn't get a piece of candy. I tied Alice to a fence post and got Joe out and first thing he wanted was to get to Alice so I took him for a quick walk to let him get cleaned out and walked him over to her and wouldn't ya just know it, he was wanting to breed her so I let him. In a very short time, he locked her up and the wait was on and I'm here to tell ya. I felt 2 inches tall as traffic went by and thier I am with two hounds mated up right along side route 3. Made me feel like a heal but at the time, Joe was ready and Alice was also so I let it happen. That was on Thurs. at 1:30. Did get her bred again in the early morning hours on Friday before I headed back home. So much for that! I got a couple of hours sleep at Troy's after he called me and told me he was having a problem and was going to be a bit and I won't get into the problem that he had but we did manage to laugh it off at the end of the day. He gave me directions to his place and I went there and got a few winks in. When it got dark, we loaded up Zeb and a young hound named Leroy and headed to the timber. After being there for just a short time, I felt like I had known Troy all my life. Super nice guy and certainly knows his hounds and knows how a top hound should perform when turned loose and Zeb and Leroy got the job done on two turnouts with 2 trees and coon seen in both. Troy hunts like I like to, drop the tailgate, cut'em in and sit there till they get treed. While sitting and waiting, we shot lot's of BS and talked hounds. We sure had the same idea of what we both expected in a top hound when you cut one loose. He went on to talk about ole Echo and hounds from back then to the present hounds he had at the kennel. I went on myself and told him why the direction I'm taking at the kennel at this time was happening. When a guy feels he has been checkmated, at a standstill so to speak or at a status quo, time for an outcross. Linebreeding again was not an option!! I told Troy that one can never be totally satisfied in his hounds because if it get's to that point, your quest to find or make better ends. I'm always looking for better and after talking with Troy,I believe he feels the same way. Hopefully this cross will get me a step in the right direction and what I'm trying to gain as a whole here at the kennel. Alice II will also be part of the equasion when her time comes. Thru outcrosses on both, I look to double up on the Jet and Echo lines by using Alice and Alice II offspring, and 2 diffent Echo bred hounds sires and if the outcome is right, crossing those offspring back to each other in the next few years but first, they have to make top hounds in every aspect in order to proceed on with it. I guess we'll wait and see! I was hoping to meet Voyd and his son Bodie but they were both out of town and it didn't happen. Sure would like to meet both, maybe in the future it will happen. Guys,if ya ever get the chance, go and hunt with Troy, you'll enjoy it I'm sure. Well, enough for now. Hopefully soon, I'll have some pups to mess with!! Looks like Alice II will be in the timber for the rest of the season while Alice does here thing, raises me a nice litter of Jet and Echo puppies!! Later, Danny G.

Highlight of the trip!!
Echo Joe and Alice!!

Terry

Not much to see In Okie land!! Just lots of cattle in the fields and barbed wired strung along every stretch of road I passed by. Troy did have some nice woods to hunt in along creek bottoms and such. We cut them thru the barbed wire and off they went. Sure seems like they could get ripped open pretty easy from that stuff. Hounds did a nice job in treeing 2 coon. Troy told me I was within 60 miles of where they hold the battle of the breeds hunt. Don't think I'll ever get there in less I have 7 to 10 days to make the trip! Long trip to make in 2 1/2 days! Don't believe I've been on a longer one for sure! All in all,Ok not to bad!! Autumn, I have your address, I'll check shipping cost and get back to you in a pm on Monday afternoon! Been a bit hectic around here lately!! I thought about stopping by and hunting with Gauge at Joe's place on the way home but I just kept thinging about getting out from behind the wheel of the truck and getting back home and after sitting at a stand still for 40 minutes because of a wreck, I continued east to the house!!I'm glad to be back!!

Travis

Unfortunately, I didn't get to hunt with Joe. Would it had made a difference is breeding to him, at the time no because Alice had already been bred earlier in the day by Joe and I had my mind made up who would sire Alice's next litter after talking with guys that hunted with Joe. Nothing but good things to say about him. Troy told me he started him and he treed a coon by hisself the first night he hunted him. It would of been nice if the vet could have drawn him off and shipped semen. Much easier and cheaper than the drive out and back but I did enjoy hunting with Zeb and a young one out of him, Leroy with Troy. Never in my wildest dreams did I see myself hunting coons in Okie land but at least now I can say I've been there and done it!! Zeb's on my list as a possible choice for Alice II first litter so seeing him go was a good thing. Both did a nice job on 2 trees with two eyeballs looking down on both. I think this cross is going to work out for me. Just need to get a live litter on the ground and see what it goes from there when I start them. Perfect timing for springtime training! Later, Danny G.
