remove knot in tail
i've got a 5 mon old english female pup. she's got a hook in her tail. it hooks down like a airplain tailhook. she got hung on some wire under my computer table and pulled my speakers off. so i want to cut the hook off. now that she's 5 mons old is there someway other than going to the vet? one person suggested putting a rubber band on it and it will drop off. any ideas? the hook is at the end and about one inch is facing the wrong direction..

Honestly the safest and best hustle would be just go to the vet. The rubber band deal is a bad idea for a pup that old in my opinion.

Might be surgically correctable.
I wouldn't band one that old. Too much risk of infection and the bones are already formed. I would go to the vet.

fyi - unless medically necessary, most vets will not remove tail...or parts of it.

i considered every hook name i could think of and i didn't like any of them. i like a name i can yell without sounded rediculous. i named her stella. everyone that has every seen the movie, street named desire, knows how the yell "stella". also, we have a communittee here named stella too.

put a band on her tail. they dock full grown milk cows tails all the time. when the tip starts to dry up, pour a little peroxide around the band area every day til it falls off.

Don't know about a dog but I've sure banded a lot of calves balls. Those suckers get huge then they dry up turn black and fall off. They walk funny for awhile too!!! Ouch!
andy purnell, why do they do it all the time with beagles? do they have problems with their tails? i'm ignorant.
