hey

Does he have any pups on the ground

Posted by Dirtdevil on 11-21-2012 10:43 AM:

None lately , but my gyp should be in heat in January ... he's been bred to a few cull gyps and throws his flavor in the pups just like his sire and grandsire did ... but they were bred to better bitches and had a few pups get into good hands ... the mouth and track speed in these dogs is pretty strong ...

....

Are they early starting

Posted by Dirtdevil on 11-21-2012 01:00 PM:

Jericho's sire was trained alone and was treeing coon consistantly and right at a year old and was the best coondog I ever hunted with ... his grandsire/grandmother were treeing their own coon earlier than that.

His mother was 8 when I got her , but I hunted her regular to check her out and she was nice ... fast , treed solid but would bump every kind of trash there was ... Jericho aint ashamed to bump trash either ... but has about quit that with age.

Jericho was hunting and opening at 6 months old and treeing his own coon around 10 months old ... he and his littermates all made coondogs.

Those litters would do the hide/caged coon thing as puppies .. his pups are the same way ... He's got several shots of good Albert blood that seem to put fire and flavor in dogs .

There is some video of him and Achilla on my photobucket ... I took some video of him last night I can text , but my phone and pc have quit talking to each other right and I'm having trouble downloading it to put on here.

Thanks for posting that , it's blurry because my phone had a booger on the lens.

Jericho either makes me love him or wanna drop a car on his head .... tonight he got deep and floated a track and come treed as good as I've ever seen .

It's love-hate with this dog , but one thing about it ... he has flavor .

Justin

Great looking and sounding hound, what I really noticed, was that none of the trees were chewed in half. Are the Smithhurst dogs relatively clean treedogs? Thanks

Posted by Dirtdevil on 12-29-2012 02:33 PM:

The ones that tree are clean treedogs , Achilla has never jumped or chewed at a single tree ... she might jive around a little and get ants in her pants but that's it ... her half brother was the same way , they made a heckuva team.

Jericho and his sire are clean , definitely no chewing ... Jericho will hop around some or might bite a branch in his way when you are at the tree and lovin' on him .

Achilla's pups tree hard and clean so far ... she has alot of tree in her and our old bitch , Babe , is a hard and clean treedog.

For as nice as the good ones are and how quick they are to get treed , they will have plenty of littermates and relatives that didn't get enough of the tree gene to suit me ... but as far as I can remember it's hit and miss to get the good ones mated up before soemthing happens to one or both of them ... Achilla still has some pups out there and a few litters in her so maybe we can get it our ducks in a row.

thanks for looking

A very valueable commodity in the breed, in my opinion, I will definitely be looking your way in the future, thanks for the honest response.
