Garmin Range issue

I'm sure things like this have been posted on here before, but I can't remember the answers. I have had a Astro 220 for about 4 years. I never did get the range out of it that I read about others getting, but I used to consistently get .7 to .8 mile, sometimes a little more-usually sufficient. Anyway about 3 weeks ago, the range went to pot. On occasion I might get 450 yards, but usually loose signal at 200 to 250 yards. I have tried 2 different antennas on the unit and have used it on 3 different collars=same results. I am going to try to hook it up to the computer today and run it through an update. Don't know if that will help? Just wondering if anyone else has seen somthing similar or has any ideas? Thanks.

It can be a lot of things, likely the antenna is no longer making good connection, an update could fix it, and if you use marine band radios with them in it can kill them as well.

Sounds like you may have had the internal connection between the antenna and the Astro come loose. This can happen from unscrewing and tightening the antenna too much or too tight.

Garmin charges a flat rate to fix out of warranty units. If I were you I would get in contact with Bruce Conkey. He has a guy that does work on Garmins, lights, and things like that and can most likely fix it for you.

Makes sense. I bought it from Conkey originally, think I will give him a call, might even ask what he would give for it toward a new 330!
