Are you kidding me?????????
Daniel Wilson's (Dwils) main meat dog for this kill season is a 5 month old pup. Hunting her alone in these frozen temps, heavy frost and treeing coons every night. She is off Bear and a Ben Crocker bitch. I think my Dad would just be shaking his head. Times change, everything starts younger these days.

Daniel and I talked a month or so ago and I was really interested in that cross. I had just about made up my mind to finally do an "outcross"....
I have a date to go hunting with that pup, and if I like what I see (sounds stupid, what's not to like about a five month old pup treeing coon alone) I have a female bred a whole lot like that pups momma....gonna have to make me one of those crosses....

Jim,
I remember when Adam O'Donnell was hunting Scott's Crooked Creek Threat the same way at 6 months old.

Daniel breeding provides a range of development that a young dog has for its potential, but it is the handler/trainer that guides the youngster to reach its potential.
My hats off to you for the dedication and hard work that you provide to allow such young dogs to develop into fine dogs. You, young man, already have quite an impressive track record. I hope to some day shake your hand.

I appreciate the kind words Larry! But this pup in specific wouldn't have gotten this early of a jump start if it wasn't for them being at Big Deans house!!She ran lose along with Sizemores pup and were fooled with and handled daily .
But since ive had her back she has treed 9 singles 2 dens and 1 possum
the dens stopped after she had coon #3 knocked out .

I have been hunting with Daniel and the pup it is something you have to see to believe and boy does she hate a coon. Daniel is one of the best people to give a pup to that is starting to do it, if they have him excited he will put them in the woods every night and spend every minute with them to make them the best coondog they can be.

Nice!!
I have heard alot of good stuff about Daniel and his dogs.
I consider Daniel a good friend of mine and he sure does know his dogs! If he is hunting it ...it is the real deal no doubt in my mind. Hey Daniel if you get tired of that pup just send her on down this way bud!

That's awesome Daniel! I hope more people start breeding to old Bear. My buddy has a littermate female to yours that acts really good and will hopefully see her first coon this week.
Daniel she sure looks and sounds good!
I am curious how she is doing on her tracking. I know around me the frost has been forming pretty danged early...if this five month old pup is treeing coon by running tracks in the heavy frost I'm REALLY impressed.

Bobby, Justin and Ross. thanks guys! Ross you have some excellent hunting ! met some great guys at SETWD and hope to attend again and maybe do some pleasure hunting with you all
Wes; let me know how she does! there is another litter mate male in Tennessee, good looking pup. the owner is selling out ...someone needs to jump on him!
Joe she is the type of pup that starts looking for a track 15 yards from the truck. To be honest with you i believe pups strike colder tracks than many finished dogs; due to the fact they have no concept on whats a good or bad track and do not know what tracks they can handle and what tracks they cannot. All that a pup knows is they smell a coon and they are going to try their best to find it.......what i love about this pup so far is even though she has shown she has PLENTY of tree power in her veins , she looks for a track first; and when there are not any tracks, she starts looking for a coon. She has yet to walk me to an empty tree....last night it was tough and i mean coon were just not out here and she grubbed a track about as good as a pup could and came treed on her 3rd Den tree. I honestly do believe she had a coon inside and so did she as you can tell in the video lol. Frost just has not been an issue to her! There is absolutely no telling if she will ever make a good one. But id rather walk to only 1-2 coon a night with this pup way before having a kill fest with finished dogs

Daniel I like the way you think.
I have a buddy nearby and we have a running "discussion" about pups. He favors the ones that tree first and learn to run a track later, while I prefer one that is looking for a track to run in order to get treed.
He ends up with dogs that make lots of trees and they do in fact tree coon, but he would prefer them make a slick tree on the way out of a woods than for him to walk to the back patch to look at a coon. Mine are not perfect by any means, but have a coon the majority of the time when they put it in park.
The bottom line is that balance is the key...balance.

Daniel, how do you get your pup off a shot coon. i took my pup out for the first time last night. he just hung around close, then babe fell treed across a valley and on top the next hill. she just layed it up. when Bart got close to the tree, he started winding the coon and did his best to try to get split but ended up backing babe on her tree. when i let him have the coon i had to get ruffer than i ever have with another dog trying to get the coon away from him. he is totally in a transe when he has the coon by the neck. i left my skinning knife in the truck. so i left the coon because the pup would not take no for a answer. leading two dogs and packing a rifle meant the coon was staying where it was.

THATS A SUPER NICE PUP. IF THEY HAVE ANY NATURAL ABILITY TO THEM AT ALL JUST INTRODUCE THEM TO COONS AND THEY WILL DO THE REST. ESPECIALLY IF BRED INTO THEM. THANKS SCOTT WEDDLE
Sounds like Ol Bear is a reproducer. Can you guys put up some pics of Bears offspring?
