How old do you believe the earth is?

just curious to know folks opinions on the age of the earth as we had a pretty good debate this morning.

OLD

I BELIEVE THE BIBLE VERSION OF THE AGE, NOT SOME THEORY OF A ROCK.
GODS WORD!!! LEAN NOT ON YOU OWN UNDERSTANDING
IN THE BEGINNING, IS NOT ON MANS TIME, DON'T THINK MAN IS FULLY CAPABLE OF UNDERSTANDING WHAT IT IS, WHILE IN THIS WORLD.

Well i say my belief is Gods time and mans time is 2 totally different times. Gods time is Forever ,while mans time on this Earth is just a blink of an eye in Gods Time , We should make the most of whats allowed us as we walk on His creation ,IMHO

according to new/modern science.the earths not as old as once thought.the truth is in the facts.

I was Hunting Antelope in Wy. once .. The Party I was hunting with Droped me off so I could make a Long Stalk on a Herd .. Well I knocked down a nice Antelope and where it fell was close to a small bolder that made a seat, After i gutted my Antelope I sat there on that bolder waiting for the return of the Truck .. I happened to look stright down between my legs was a pile of Flint Nappings and a Broken Arrow Head ..

It was nice to see the Work of a Very old Indian was still in the same spot and had never been disturbed I looked the Head over and put it right back in the same spot..

hey Dave better check the bible a little closer Isaiah 40;22 talks about the earth being round. just thought i would mention it

You people are crazy to believe that book it was only written by the intelligent people to control week mind people like yourselves. The earth is roughly 4+ billion years old and that's science not a bunch of moral bull crap used to control people.

You know Im not going to knock for their beliefs but i've never met anyone in person who believed the earth is 6000 years old. And I went to a bible college. Could some of you explain yourselves a little further? Im a christian, so dont take this the wrong way but how do you account for carbon dating and the continental drift? Or how we have stars thousands and thousands of light years away? It even takes hundreds of years for us to see a star has burned out. I know God was our creator and to me thats all that matters.

Does anyone hold to the fact that a believing in a young earth in necessary for salvation thorugh Jesus Christ?

Keep in mind that the ten commandments are the only things in the bible that were "penned" by the hand of God. The rest was written by man with the instperation of God and his son.

I'm not trying to knock on there belief in god or a god or whatever. The sole purpose of the bible though is to give people a moral outline of how to act and what is right and what is wrong. There is very little if any historical fact in that book it's merely a bunch of moral stories.
