How's them lockbox pups acting ?
I was wordering how them lockbox pups where acting ?
so far really like mine.
very loud, smart, gritty, and gamey. mine treed on 1st caged coon ever seen and ran and opened on track on turn lose.
two littermates to mine have run and treed and stay treed on feeder and turn lose coons on the first one they smelled.
I called several owners of box pups before I made the cross for mine and all I heard were rave reviews. talked with whimp aron who owns repete, box's full brother and he reproduces the same type pups. whimp told me himself that repete throws the best 5 month old pups he has ever raised on his place. Now coming from a man who bred and raised Skuna River Lipper, Skuna River bark and a line of females for 11 generations.
that was enough for me. I went with box for the size only. He is a small tight made dog and I like that. repete is a medium sized dog about 60 lbs compared to box's 45 lbs.
You sure cant go wrong with them. the only thing I like repete over box on is the muzzles. they tend to be smaller keener muzzles. I like a fuller muzzle but it was a trade off.
the one I have is getting ready to really turn the crank I believe. I will keep you posted. On her 1st hunt at 6 months old last week, she went with the dogs, but did not open, but was at the tree. when we shot the coon out she fought it like a grown dog down into a creek and went under with him a couple of times. He got back under the bank and she needed help getting him out but man what some grit for a 6 mo old pup. she would fight a bear I do believe.
I can send you a video of her treeing and you can see what a mouth she has. screaming loud squall that is loud as a male.

sent you guys two videos each
one is kinda scratchy on the tree sound wise. she is so loud and I have a cheap phone so it keeps breaking up because I was too close. the other is her fighting a caged coon. both were her first to ever see. she was louder in the woods even more than that on a fighting coon in the water. when she gets a year old i cant imagine how loud she will be.

Screaming mouth
Thanks for the video ,, your pup has a big screaming mouth ,, and she hates a coon , that's the way I like good acting pups to be . Good luck with ur nice pup !
I have a 8 month old female off box. She is running and treeing her own WILD coon, out striking the old dogs honestly. She has split and held pressure. She has a good mouth, nice locate. Will absolutely get through the country on her own. Best and easiest pup to start ive had.
Good deal
Sounds like lockbox is getting some nice pups that are starting early , sure sounds like you've got your self a nice pup there , just got my two today . Hope they start as good as yours did . It makes it alot easier to start a pup that wants to get treed , good luck with ur box pup !
PACK, SORRY I DID NOT CALL U BACK, HAD THE PHONE RINGING OFF THE HOOK.LOL.
I WILL TRY TO CALL U THIS EVEN. GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR NEW PUPS. SENT U A PM. MARTY...........

just heard from a guy today that has
a littermate to mine by my boots dog and he is really pleased with his. He said he is loud, hates a coon and on the way hunting the other night, had one cross the road on them and they stopped and turned just the pup out and he struck it, ran it and treed it with that huge mouth. they shot it out to him and he finished it off killing it. said the same thing I said about mine. very gritty and he said he flew on the track. I have been hearing they can flat float a track like nothing you have ever seen. liked hearing that. he is one good looking sucker they said. I am going to take a look at him at the end of the week and take some pics. hope to add them on here.
will post some of mine later as well.
