english difference

is there anything that is different about the english breed that sets it apart from the other hound breeds?
or, is it just a different colored coonhound and there is good and bad in all breeds.
i'm asking because i intend to buy a english pup. in my mind they are just a differnt colored hound. any i right or what?

English hounds like to please. They hunt for the joy of pleasing their owner. They are quick to locate a tree with the uncanny ability to exhibit accurate locating ability even though they are quick to pull the trigger on which tree they decide to tree on. In general many strains are not too wired up to the point that they are junky, so you don't have quite as much junk issues to deal with as you may find in some other breeds.

If I were looking to hunt a different breed I would choose a ...BLUE.. english,I would look no farther than in the great state of N.C..Derrin Merritt,Massengell and another name that comes to my mind is David Long,These guys have owned some of the best ...Morris Tart.... had several from MCGruff( MICHIGAN SWAMP ROOSTER) I think was the breeding These dogs won the breeders race for Morris if memory serves me right.I never had the chance to meet Massengel but Morris and Derrin were as tuff competitors as you will ever draw in a hunt but they were also ....REAL GENTLEMEN AND ALWAYS SHOWED GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP WHEN I HUNTED AGAINST THEM.....jmo

i like those blue english too. they are the most colorful coonhounds of all, except maybe the leopard but their coloring is not the same as the english.

i got my english puppy today. i bought it from jonathan grimes in roseboro, nc. it fit everything i was looking for. it came from good, well proven parents, according to jon., it cost only 100$, it was less than 200 miles away and it was more than a 7 week old puppy. it is 4 months old. she is out going and brave. i gave her bath and she handled it calmly and just sat there as i washed her head and ears. most dogs go crazy with that. i guess i'll see in about 10 months if i screwed up agian or not.
