running bear track?
how does a bear usually run when dogs are tracking? the other night dogs put a coon in ground, went on down toward creek where there is some bluffs stuck red hot track pretty close if not in creek ran and stayed right next to creek all the way barking like a red hot track. had a little bit of trouble with garmin then got back in service and they had travelled approximately 5 to 6 miles before i got ahead of them in my truck and got them stopped. the last 1/4 mile or so the track had gotten colder. just wondering if it could have been a bear because 1 has been seen several different times by different people also 2 or 3 pictures was taken of it. just wondering how and how long bears usually run? thanks in advance.
in my experience
they were probably on a bear, the bears that my dogs have struck down low go staight up the branche through the thickest nastiest part of woods. through laurel thickets and briars and such. when ive followed my dogs that way, it gets rough, thats what bears like to run through. the hollow i hunt, ive been alot, and seen new area when they run that bear. when a bear gets tired of running from 1 or 2 dogs, thay might stop and rest, and the dogs just booger bark at them, and theyll take off again. deers dont run through laurel thickets like that, theyll more or less run the ridges, dogs coming in and out of hearing. i had trouble last year with them.
