dog breaking off tree in competition need help!!!!!!
ive been havin serious troubles in the past couple competition hunts ive entered. My male will run a track strike first and tree first but as soon as another dog gets on the tree with him hes gone and i get minus tree points it sucks my dog does all the work and then leaves. My dog got bit a couple months back on the tree and he hasnt been the same since how can i bring this dogs confidence back any advice appreciated. thanks
He is just afraid of getting jumped on agien everyone I know would cull him but if you like him make him a pleasure dog or you could try hunting him with a few dogs he knows kinda get him used to other dogs comeing in.

The same thing happened to my dog I turned him on a cage coon and tied him to the bottom of a tree then take an unfamiliar dog and turn it on the tree after 3-4 times he will start staying again
If you can find a female coming into heat, kennel her in between your male and another male. Leave her there her whole heat cycle. When she will except a male put your dog with her one day then the other male the next, continue until she won't except them anymore. After a few weeks of this your male wont get run off the tree anymore. I personally have never tried this but I have had several people tell me that it works wonders. Good luck!
.............
IF YOUR GONA HUNT HIM IN THE HUNTS GET YOU SOME HOG DOG CUT VEST AND A SMALL SIZE FOOT BALL HELMENT WITH BLINDERS INSTALLED ON THE SIDES SO HE CANT SEE THE DOG COMING...

I don't think he'll ever be much of a competition dog. If he won't stay put you can't win! Try keeping him on a leash until the other dog trees and lead him in there and pet the thunder out of him. Let him know that not all dogs jump on him... Plus petting a dog on a tree ALOT does make that dog REALLY want to stay. The problem is WHEN he encounters an alligator at the tree again. What's he going to do? I'd sell him or just enjoy him as is. It's really all in there breeding. I've got 2 blues now that ARE breed to stay no matter what and they will unless they are dead. Had a dog come into a tree growling and jumping all over my dog not to long ago. He put up with it by bouncing around away from the other dog for a min or two. The dog grabbed him on the face and look out he shouldn't have done that. The other dog got an attitude adjustment. All this on the way to the tree with the light on them. Have Not had my dog do anything aggressive to any other dog since. Did not make him mean I guess.
I would say, just hunt the hair off him, just by himself! You didn't say how old he is. If he is still pretty young, he's like a kid getting bullied. One of these days, that bullyiing thing is gonna stop, and he will stand his ground! Dogs have to gain confidence too! JMO

If you have the time and paitence this might work and it might not. Depends on the dog and the person applying the technic.
You have a 33.3 % chance this will work. Will not work. Are might create an aggressive dog that will get wrote up when in a hunt.
Hunt him by his self. When he gets treed pull his ear, smack him in the face and push him off the tree. Each time he is shoved off the tree. Pull him back up on the tree and repeat a couple more times. Pat him up and praise him for staying.
Now you need a face barker and a buddy to help. Let him get treed by his self or run him and the face barker together. If by his self lead the other dog to the tree. But I would hunt them together let them tree and catch him if he leaves. Lead him back to the tree. Have someone hold the other dog back. Get him treeing and eas the other dog up letting it tree. If he tries to get off the tree pull the other dog back. Get him treeing again, eas the other dog up. After a few times of not getting hurt he might stand his ground. Good Luck.
