I finished my Ike dog to Grand Nite at 18 months old. I think that ties the youngest for a male anyway.

WHAT!

Ya very bad idea but whatever u want these young dogs that titled were not in very many hunts just got hot right away many many dogs get put in hunts too early and are then burned up at a very young age a six month old pup would be like puttin a six yr old kid in a high school game

He was a walker wasn't he Ghorley?!?! .... I don't want to say for a fact without asking him but I'm almost positive Tony Smith has had more than one English finish out before 18 months old.

As for putting a six month old pup in a compitition, that's the worst possible thing you could do for the pup. The risk just isn't worth the reward. 10 months old would be the absolute minimum and that isn't a good idea either. Very very very few dogs could handle a hunt even at that age. If he is doing as good as you say you should wait til after he's a year old.

There was a guy back in the late 70 s early 80s that had a a dog by the name of Hall's 8 Ball that was a Night Ch.at like 9 months old and Grand Night Ch.at 12 months . Best i can remember he lived near Mc Connelsville Ohio ,,Now i remember his name was Red Hall. Hold on boys ,,he was a Black n Tan .

Finishing a dog out under 2 is impressive especially if there's actually a decent number of dogs at the hunt. But I will say I dont care whose dog it is or what breed it is putting a young hound in 2 or 3 casts a week will not improve them in any way lol

i knpw hunting it to young in a hunt can be bad but it seems your dog has to do something impressive or either you have to have alot of money to promote them in which case i dont lol i have a three year old male 4 wins toward grand a good as any dog around raised some pups no one even replied to the ad im just trying promote my dog if possible

Stranger things have happened. The whelping box is often too far from the house to confirm delievery for six months.

Finishing your dog at the same ol' clubs...not impressive.Finishing your dog in different states, bigger hunts...impressive no matter what the age.

So now you need to travel across states and spend thousands to be considered impressive? And for what? What's the return?
