Garmi Alpha, shock collar question.

So I have read UKC's policy in the advisor column on the Garmin Alphas and believe that I fully understand and comprehend their policy. Here is my question- are we now allowed to use a shock collar to round up our dogs during a timeout? I know that with the Alpha it has to be left in the vehicle but can be utilized during a timeout to locate your dog. So are the Alpha users on the honor system and we just have to trust that they will not use the shocker, vibrate, or tone features of their systems? The rules say that a shock system may not be used unless all other dogs have been recovered for recasting and the dog that will be shocked, vibrated, or toned has been scratched or withdrawn from the hunt. I just do not see how you can have it both ways. If Alphas can be used during a timeout I think a shock collar should also be able to be utilized.

it is a shock system so it can not be used unless all other dogs are caught and the dog wearing it is scratched.

making it even more useless than the old garmin for use at a night hunt.

unless UKC changes the rule (which I believe they should not) train your dog to handle during the week and see how it performs at the hunts

Have you read UKC's ruling on the Alpha in last months Bloodlines? So if an Alpha user can run back to the truck and go galvanting around the woods alone to round up their dog during a timeout does that mean I can run to the truck and get my Tritronics and go out looking for my dog during a timeout and the rest of the cast just has to trust that I am not gonna push any buttons on it? Because I don't see the difference. Please enlighten me.

Me personally I don't understand why a dog put in comps would need a shock collar if you need one then more then likely the dog is not ready for the comp hunts because they are collar broke not truly broke but if you can't train the rightway use it I geuss haha

I dang sure don't need one on mine, he handles better than any other dog I have ever seen in my life. Go read his stud add on the Leopard page. Just wondering how UKC can say one is ok and not the other. Also lots of people train their dogs to recall from a long distance with the tone button. I don't see what is so wrong with that.
