Rule seminars, does your club hold them?

It seems to me there are 4 categories of handlers.
1) handlers who know the rules
2) handlers who bend or cheat with rules
3) handlers who think they know the rules
4) handlers who want to learn & know the rules

With this in mind I believe there are more honest handlers out there than we realize. They just don't speak up etc and the slick handlers/cheaters come out on top! With that being said it only makes since that we educate ourselves to the " honor rules "

Does any of ya'lls local clubs hold rule seminars? If so what kind of format does the club use? Any ideas or recommendations on how to hold them or what to go over? If your club does hold them, how much participation do they get? Are do they turn into just another reason to shoot the breeze and are not taken serious?

SIR

ther are more of #2 than you think, and they have a monopoly on some hunts. they are afraid to stand up for fear of being barred by ukc when cheats report them by lying to them. if you try to go by rules, they make it nearly impossible for THEM or dog to win a cast, by out and out cheating and target them.

THEY DON'T CARE NOTHING ABOUT NO HONOR RULES EITHER, they try to corrupt people by teaching them how to cheat and twist the rules. their the first to tell them how honest and fair they try to treat everyone,''sometimes'' only if it benefits them somehow $$$$$$.
they win at all their hunt clubs, and they take it seriouslly if you go by the rules. it cramps their style.

Do you think a club that strictly enforces honesty and fairness would help? Say, if a club held rule seminars on a regular basis and the club officers stressed the importance of being honest while judging or hunting and that cheating or bending the rules will not be tolerated. I assume a club has the right to put a clause in their by-laws stating if found cheating and or bending " honor rules " first offense probation second offense kicked out of club. Wonder if that'd help?

rules

it might would help for a while but doubt it would last very long. they would just join another club, ''seen this happen''. they despise other ukc clubs and its members intentionally, and hood wink their dogs if they win any event honestly to take it away from them and say someone else's dog won. they get barred and pay fine, get back in again, just to cheat some more.
some of these are the one's that'll tell you they're as honest and fair as they can be, pure saints, but they take honest wins away from people and dogs and it does'nt phase them 1 bit, they get a kick out of it, its fun to them.

No..but I wish they would have some seminars about HOW to judge a cast, keeping score, time, etc. It would make the Master of Hound's job alot simpler. You would not believe the mistakes that are made.
Oh yeah...filling out entry slips too. It amazes me how many people will put their street addres but not the town they live in. this is primarily done when the folks fill out their own entry and then need it checked. trust me, it is a hassle when one of those happens to win their cast and the reports can'rt be filled out because the papers are in someone else's truck that isn't back yet.

That's pretty much what we're planning on having at club maybe every other month. I've put together some stuff that commonly happens for us to go over plus made a example score with dogs scratched for fighting, quiting track, slick tree, split tree etc for us to go over. I sent it in a email to Todd kellam for him to look over and get his opinion. I want it to be 100% correct! I have practice test etc and if anybody would like a copy I can email to you.

Look at the post on here concerning 1 rule. How many interpetations do you see. I think it is a grand idea, but you better be prpared for a long night. We do dicuss rule changes when they happen which will be every 3 years now I think. Rule changes or rulings in the advisor column each month are also told at club meetings. Discussion is cut short ( everyone gets to give their opion at least once ) in order to get the meeting over before midnight.
