Garmin help..

I turned my garmin 320 on to make sure it was working. And the dog icon is floating around. I have LR antennas on it. When i hit the dog button, it is almost 60-120 degrees off from where the collar actually is..Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what to do. I have calibrated the compass. Thanks

Does the collar have a GPS lock?

How close is the collar and the 320?

Search on here about garmin .. I would do a master reset and then run a update .. You will need to go to Garmins web site and down load the web updater to run the updates.

You judge the GPS lock on the collar by the blinks. Two or three blinks indicates it has a GPS lock, three being a better lock than two. Generally the better the GPS lock the better the accuracy of the GPS for both the collar and the handheld.

Being five feet away is iffy at best for direction as there can be that much error in the accuracy of the GPS. I would put them at least 15 to 20 yards away to eliminate the possibility of this error causing the false directional readings on the compass.

ok so it has 3 blinks as far as gps lock goes. but its as if the whole system is off..1, it is showing me on the completely wrong side of the street. 2, i was about 90 ft away directly in front of the colllar and it was showing that it was off to my right about 15-30 degrees from where it actually was. and my icon was floating on the screen..

have you recalibrated the compass on the unit and also if i dont hold mine flat it gives a bad reading also when doing the reset and you link the collar back to the unit stand clear of trees buildings and vehicles to get a better hook up
