They always seem to be "just roaming around."
there
in southern mi. also !!
my brother took pic of a young 1 in his backyard!!! called dnr, they said "no cougars in very southern mi." my brother said "i got a pic if you want to see it"....15 min. later 2 dif. dnr officers showed up.looked at pic and said "it sure is a young one"my brother said "ok,its a young one....wheres the parents that raised it"? they mumbled something to each other and left.
another guy has 1 on a trail cam.
so i carry my gun season or not.to many coyotes, now cougars, meth labs and pot growers not to be w/o it!!!
Now Corey you know good and well there's no MT. Lions in Iowa just ask any Dnr officer or conservation officer. I bet they'll tell you if you look closer it's just a over grown common house cat. Lions in Iowa that's just silly.

DNRs favorite saying- dont worry its just a young male passing through so it wont stick around. Or years back they had some take the same route, by next week it will be in Illinois

ther has been trail camera pics and eyewittness of lions for a quite a few years now in eastern Iowa. but DNR still denies it
Had some hounds tangle with one this past early summer. I should say just the one really hung it but she kept gettin it stopped. Tough gyp! She shoved & fought, treed & bayed for an hour or more but stayed in the tumblin rocks & bluff's mostly. Wouldn't stay up very long. Supose it figured one dawg?
Finally got'er captured when they came 50 yrds from us & I used the Tri-Tronics to halt the wonderful music as much as we hated to. She had claw marks on her side with an 18" gash from low on her shoulder,up onto her spine then off the otherside towards her hip. Tracks been seen & trail cam pictures takin.
Really suprised the terrain she made it through. Musta had her ropes & petons with?
Watchin it on the garmin was awsum. Discoverin "Miracle Ear", ..............PRICELESS! In a week the wound went from opened & ready for skinnin'ta closed up in a week & prit~near healed in two weeks. Three weeks it was gone cept the seperation in the hair/scar. Lil peroxide & some super glue was employed as well. Amazing stuff!!!
This race was less than a mile from house

I was telling one of our local biologists about this post today, and the first danged thing outta her mouth was, "Well somebody's pet must got loose.
Earlier this summer she brought me a pic from one of her co-workers trail camera, and it had a left side head shot of a cub just entering the frame. Well danged if she didn't try to convince me this was a raccoon. I told her she definitely needed more schooling if she could not tell the difference between that pic and a raccoon. This pic had a deer eating off a feeder. She did tell me later, the owner of the pic, never got another pic of a deer from that location for the remainder of the summer. Go figure!
