I might actually try to go if they had one in WV. Hunting those mountains is the same hunting we have here.

I don't think the flatland guys would like it to well after they got there and looked up to the top of one of those mountains though.

I'd like to see it in WV. I don't even like to have to drive up and down those mountains! LOL I have spent my fair share of time hunting in the hills there and what always gets me is when you're done after a long hunt and been up and over and around and then when it's time to head back to the truck! It's easy to get WAY out a little at a time when you're having fun but then having to hump it all back at once.... I never have done any coon hunting there. Used to do a good bit of grouse hunting and been with some friends running bear.

Another thing about having it in those hills is the dogs will have to get a coon quick because this scenarion happens a good bit hunting around here.

Cut a couple dogs up a holler. They hit some coon in the creek and one will go up a hill to the right, the other to the left. By the time you climb the hill to the first tree, shine it and walk to the second the two hours would be over.

Have you thought about the older guys that make it to the finals as far as age and health climbing them mountains. It is alot easier for someone to come from the mountains ad walk the flatlands then it is to do the other.Myself i thought Rogersville Tenn.was not a good choice but if i remember right they got it due to numbers.

sounds great to me. just better have a dog that goes hunting.

I'd rather see it In Kentucky myself but if was in WV that would be great! I got my first win with Jakey at the Marshville Club and the people up there were Super Friendly.I hunted mostly the Lewis Wetzel Park and my dog loved walking my but off up there lol.

wv world

I didn't vote cause I don't comp hunt. I think the guys that run the hounds need to be the ones voting, but I do think it would be great. I know where I pleasure hunt there would be some high scoring hounds. On an average night I can get five trees in about an hour

Looks like no is the front runner there CG , I voted yes but it's a dead subject probably never happen . I think they should move it around and last few years seems Ukc has done that pretty good . Hunting in wv is hit and miss , you either in coon or your not . Hunting is rough , and better have a dog that will get in and hunt . Most people on the hunt circuits have feeders do it makes it alittle easier .

Had a dog that was capable of winning the whole thing the year it was in rogersville. Didnt even try to qualify because of horror stories about rogersville. Ended up riding with buddy to the hunt in TN. First night drew two 70 year old men wearing tennis shoes for guides. Thought 2 old men in tennis shoes was going to walk us to death in these mountains. Hunted in a big cow pasture the whole hunt. The biggest creek in pasture my 8 yr old could step across. It was beautiful. Next night hunted in small creek bottoms with great hunting. Did hear of one fellow withdrawing after puking twice while climbing mountain to get to his treed dog. Dog had the cast winning coon and fellow still withdrew and went home

Why wouldn't you want to have it somewhere in the center of the country? That way you aren't constantly catering to the southeast portion of the country. More people would travel from the western states if they didn't have to drive across the entire country. I'm not saying this because I live in NE, because I won't go one way or the other, but it would just make a lot more sense to me.

I can agree with this and I'm a LONG way from Michigan. I've hunt a lot from Ithaca south to Lansing and it's the best hunting I've ever been in.

lansing is about fifty miles north of me................ so actually the hunting is just a little better in this area than where you are at.. although it is good hunting there as well

10 dogs from West Virgina entered the world last year. If you want to see it in West Virgina anytime soon the entries from that state would probably have to be up around the 25-40 dog mark. jmo

Milton, WV

It could be held in Milton, WV. Not north or south. Yes, have some hills. Not the mountains. Can be in Ohio or Ky in 15 min. We held the WV State hunt here and was very successful. Would love to have the chance to hunt in my own state for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!! Have hunted all over the world and won some, lost some. I totaly agree it should be moved every year. Every one wants to have it close to home to save a little time and money. The whole thing is it has been in the mid west, went to Missouri, been in NC, I hunted in King NC. Been in TN Twice that I hunted in it. Ohio once, and hunted there. Been all around us give us one shot just one!! LOL. I know begging won't help. So if the Lords will I will try to come where ever it will be. Go Team Lincoln!
