world finals misleading

Every one is on here griping about the poor scores in the final.what most don't know is there was 9 coons seen only 2 treed.I don't think the coons was the problem.Slam scores were good.

Heard one cast Friday night made 8 trees just couldn't
The coons don't sound to bad to me

No way around it that was a horrible place to hold the world just from a business stand point. Ukc slapped every coon club that holds an rqe right in the face. The rqe's didn't pull near the dogs, which means less money to go around for everyone. It's all good, over now and hopefully a little more thought put into the location next year. On another note if I'd of had a dog in the race I'd of made that drive just like everyone that did!

I THINK IT WAS EXCELLANT CHOICE

The RQE I attenended had 44 dogs, there was 5,000 entered rqe"s

The hunting was excellant, beautifull timber flat easy walking and plenty of coon

It was just short of 800 miles one way but we made the best of it and had a ball,

GOOD JOB TO UKC CANT WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR AND I HOPE IT CONTINUES TO BE HELD WHERE THE DOGS HAVE TO GO HUNTING.

Shoot outs and big scores are nice to see , but so is a NO hitter ( Good Pitching) or a football game with tough defence and a field goal wins the game. That's the way I see the World Hunt this year. The coons pitched the NO hitter. lol

I hunted down there and it was TOUGH hunting. Thick cover and the coon ran instead of poping up the first tree. Yes, it's true , I'd rather hunt a fence row or corn field , but the South deserved it's chance and got it.... It'll prolly be a long time before it goes back.

With all that said , I'm glad they had it down there this year , but I'm ready to go back to coon-ville next year.

RQEs in the south were up. Biggest zone in years. We suffer when its in the north y'all suffer when it's in the south only fair. About driving to far a cant remember a world hunt I missed and I promise you can add my miles up and they will be hard to beat year in and year out. Can't wait until
Next year.

Shreveport did as great as job as any have. UKC only has 104 dogs on Thursday then at the most 26 left on Friday so there is your crowd until the show starts Saturday.

The tough hunting was irrelevant to my post, it should be tough hunting!

That's what we put up with EVERY TIME we go coon hunting here in South Ga. Swamps/Water/Snakes/Gators/Too Many Roads etc. It's Tuff Hunting that's for sure. Just like the guys that hunt & have to climb Hill's/Mountains & deal with dogs lost in caves, etc. Thats CoonHunting.
Good Luck to EveryOne in 2013.

Are you saying the final cast saw 9 coon and only 2 were treed?
And if so , were they seen during hunt time?

Most of yall that are on here crying werent there, so you have no complaint. I was one of the judges for the final cast. Friskey made the first tree, on the way in the cast saw 3 coons. The 2 minutes caught her, she's minused. Witch was treed split, I went with Asa to handle her, we saw 3 coons on the way to her. Skutter treed split, he had a coon, but the tree had a yellow jacket nest in the bottom of it and he couldn't stay, so he moved over to a slick, away from them stingin boogers (bad break). Lincoln was missin in action! hunts over we moved and hunted another hour (UKC rule for World Hunt). All 4 dogs split tree within 200 yds. Witch circle, Skutter coon, Lincoln circle, Friskey coon. So thats 9 coons seen, 2 coons scored..Bad place to hunt, I don't think so..Bad dogs, I don't think so , Bad night absolutely! Let's go coonhuntin boys and quit crying!

world finals

sometimes it can't just be about money! Fairness to coonhunters from all areas of the USA must be considered. People from the south should have and did have a chance to make it to a World Hunt. I am not knocking all you guys from up north but the vast majority of the Big Hunts are up in the northern or midwestern states. I think UKC has proven it does like to "move" it's World Championship around to allow hunters from every region a chance to participate in the Big Hunt. Hat's off to UKC and yes you can't please everyone all the time but you can please a lot of folks most of the time. If any one of you coon hunters can walk on water and never makes a mistake you can gripe till your heart pumps peanut butter but until that time give the people at UKC some credit for doing a good job no one else wants to do!

You're right. I wasn't there. But I sure wished I was.
Maybe then I could figure out why , with 9 coon seen , it took 4 World Champion caliber dogs 3 hours to score on only 2 coon.
Have we really bred that much nose out of our competition dogs?

And , also , as a judge , you said Skutter left a tree and moved to a slick. Was the dog minused for both? I didn't see that in the play-by-play.

Thank you for weighing in. I always wonder why we never hear from the guys that really know what happened. Makes me feel better about what im feeding. Just a case of great hounds that had a bad night.
