Is Lightening Interference??
Three dog cast. Two dogs trailing bad lightening storm comes through. Both dogs come in after a real close lightening strike. Could that be interference or are they just minused?

Timeout.........
You could always use....
Rule....... 8. (a)
when a dogs are getting on highway, trail onto posted land or.....(trail into a place where there is danger to dogs or hunters)
....the last part could mean they trailed into a lighting storm, I'm just saying.
A lightning storm would be a real danger to both dogs and men. I would call interference and get back to the truck ASAP. Some times, you got to use common sense. I am sure UKC or the host club would not want a dog or person killed by lightning.
Even if I took minus or were scratched it would be time for me to get out of Dodge.

The only place interference is mentioned in the rulebook is in the rule for "scratched for attempting to fight". No where else will you find that word.
As a practical matter, the cast can do purty much whatever they want if they all agree but that doesn't mean they followed the rules. The timeout rule wouldn't save these dogs. Under the rules, nothing saves these dogs. They quit and came in. They take their minus. No exceptions for coyotes, hotwires or lightning. Like Virgil said, if it's that bad, you pick up your dog and get to the truck. It's just a coonhunt.

One nite up on the side of a mountain not close to anything the dogs were trailing roughly 75 yards from us when down in the valley a train came through. It was super loud! All dogs except mine quit and came back to there owners. They out voted me and didnt minus their dogs. They said the train caused them to quit and come back. Of course it did, but mine kept trailing and treed (circle tree). One of the dogs that came back won by having more tree points befor this drop. The handlers was my friends...lol. Im not mad. I just remember. Its in the past. Just wanted to share
If bad weather rolls in and you want to call time out fine.. If bad weather rolls in and you decide to keep on hunting but your dog doesnt and comes in you get minused.. Its not that hard..
