Copperheads

Last couple weeks been seeing copperheads like crazy. Seen at least one every night for three weeks or so. Last Saturday we saw 6 and killed 5. Tonight I saw one as soon as I unsnapped the dogs not three feet away. Probably saw half a dozen or more on the road the last two weeks going hunting in addition to the ones I have been seeing while in the woods.

Usually see one or two a week when I am hunting heavy but not two or three a night. Between me and papaw we have wore out an old oak tobacco stick killing them things.

We hadn't seen many at all this summer, maybe three or four at most, until about three weeks ago. Now they are everywhere and we are hunting the same places.

Sounds like they're getting ready for some cold weather, looking for something to eat and getting their bellys full to crawl in a hole to sleep. But ive seen cooperheads swimming in a pond in the middle of winter, so who knows what they're doing. Seen alot more rattlesnakes more than anything.

I've never saw a copperhead around my club just south of cordele. I figured the diamondbacks ate em all.. I always kill a bunch this time of year. I just figured it was cool weather coming and they move more to stay warm or breeding season one.

In Tennessee, it is illegal to harm, kill, remove from the wild, or possess native snakes taken from the wild without the proper permits.

Please help the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) to protect our native snakes. Do not remove snakes from the wild or release snakes that have been captive into the wild.

My buddy had his dog bit by a Rattlesnake a couple of weeks ago here in Eastern Ky. Dog got real sick fast! He took him to Pikeville to the vet the next morning gave him some shots and sent some medicine home. Dog doing good now. He had treed a coon and got bit on the way to the tree or at the tree. We seen the coon and noticed he didnt act right so by the time we got back to the truck he was SICK! The fang marks were a good 1-1/2 wide.

Last week

my son was walking to the car in the driveway with flip flops on...he was getting his school books. He got tagged in the foot by a copperhead. I had "removed" one from the garage the very same day...they are everywhere right now! Very painful bite...and a long nite in the ER...but all is well now. I don't usually go out of my way to kill anything I ain't gonna use...but now if I see a copperhead...imma killing it!

Then the copperheads are winning the battle up here. Only saw one black snake all year and probably fifty copperheads.
