ot central air
left to help my buddy with his pullin horses came in the house it wasnt cool like it was when i left she said air not keeping up the fan is running on the outside unit dont sound like the compreesr is running i hope its just low on freon havent had it checked in serval yrs i hoping the worst it can be is the capacitater i call my buddyin moroning have him check it out just barley cool air coming out

Check your cooling coil on the inside. If its freezing up your low on freon. Check your breakers also. May have one tripped.

Does a air unit have a start and a run compasitor?

capacitor
Sounds like a bad capacitor. If you take the electrical cover off the outside unit and look at the capacitor if it's bad it will ususally be swelled up like a frozen beer can.

I hope it's just your capacitor. We just had our a/c go out as well and the same situation as yours, but it was the compressor. So instead of a few hundred dollars not to sweat to death down here it ended up being almost three thousand dollars

Hope it aint much. Had to replace ours a couple yrs ago. Could have bought a real coondog or small truck with what that cost.

quote:yep it was the capacitor it was swelled up buddy told me quit setting it on 68 degrees when its in the 90s it aint gonna keep up he didnt charge me but 89 dollars for the capicater and putting it on probly been 200 dollars if some 1 else fixed it just glad thats all it was this thing is over 20 yrs old ive had to put 2 capacitors in it and a relay in all those yrs its hard to stop a trane lol
