Just keep exposing him but don't push him, let him come along at his own pace.

Forget about the coon for a while, have that pup loose as much as you can, If you live where you can let him loose thats best if not take him for a romp in the woods for an hour every day and just let the pup explore and before ya know it nature will take its course. If they grow up in a pen or on a chain you just end up with a retard.

I agree! We had the same problem with our pup being timid with a cage coon, but willing to chase it and even make an honest attempt to tree it. We turned one of our older dogs loose at the cage with her this last time, and once she saw the older dog, it was lik we switched a switch and she suddenly knew what to do and that it was ok. She will now run her own track and tree her own coon and has even shown up our older ntch a time or two. Just a suggestion, might not work for your pup, but might be worth a try. Good luck!
