TEAM DOOZE

YOU WOULD BE SUPRISED AT HOW MANY COONS WOULD BE SCORED, I GREW UP HUNTING WITH A CARBIDE LITE, A COON WILL LOOK AT THEM ABOUT EVERY TIME.

I think this would be fun also. Load the hounds up in the old 1950 willys pickup. Grab the lanterns. It could be the throw back coon hunt.

I THINK I WOULD LIKE TO GO....NO TRACKERS OUR LIGHTS JUST LANTERNS,GREAT IDEAL.....

there's probably a law against having an open flame light in the forest at night. after all, seems like there's a law against just about anything you'll want to do.

We would need to find some guides. And pick a night to have it. Thursday night would probably be the best night that way we could all still hunt the hunt Friday and Saturday .

Coons might not be seen but with today's hunters the scores would be about the same.

LOL... Id prolly fall and set the dang woods on fire. I don't see how they could see them with a lantern. I would like to watch it though.

did the old timers, the ones that used the oil/wick lanterns, hunt coon in the spring/summer with all the leaves on? i don't see how they ever saw anything. i'm lucky to see the tree truck it's so thick here. i suspect the old timers just chopped down whatever tree the dogs treed on. my grandfather told me that he and some friends chopped on big oak down 4 times in one night. it kept falling against other trees. but back then a few dollars for a hide was like stricking gold. if you do it now it would diffently have to be held in the winter. what about using a real light for walking to the tree or go all old school.

Old lanternhunt at A O

L O L I remember hunting with the old carbide light, with my mentor Freeman Hawkins he was born in 1901. believe it or not we found many of the coons that we sometime treed, i believe one of the reasons that we found them is because they were there. R.I.P. F H
