When a pup "clicks"

There is no better feeling then when that young prospect you've been working for months finally takes off on his own one night and puts and end to a good track it almost seems like a switch flipped inside them has any one else noticed that one certain night when a pup really takes off and "flips their switch"

Seen it with my sons 4 month old bluetick the 1st time we showed him a caged coon..he went up to the cage sniffed it and bam went nuts on it been coon crazy ever since. treed his 1st coon about two months later..I have worked with a few young dogs over the years but this one is the 1st that i have trained from a pup that i would call a natural..wish they all picked it up that easy.

yes...that is my most exciting time in training pups. However, I also have learned that that "click" must keep on clicking. You will think they are the next world champion that night (and for a few weeks), but then they take a turn. Keep training them and working out the kinks and don't take them to the hunt before you know they are ready.

Got a 9 month old of mojo that I got at 7 month never messed with till then hunted him 2 months with seeing him tree but could strike way before my buddy's old male dog but couldn't figure out to look up at all till last week I took him by himself for the first time n he hit a track at 75 yard ran it to 200 n threw 3 long bawl locates.....talk about getting me pumped up I run the first 125 yards n I think took one more long stride n was petting him up took me awhile to find it but it was there so he got a reward that night he's been out 5 out of 7 nights since n has made a tree on every night found 3 out of 5 so I'm pretty impressed so far just hoping he stay with it n I don't find a way to make him go backwards any
